This is what it says, that the record is still held fast in shrink-wrap.
We tend to be pretty suspicious about these things, so if the shrink-wrap doesn't
look original, or if the record seems to have undergone some damage over time,
we'll probably take it out of the wrapper to ensure that it's in good shape —
which is why we don't have more of these. In some cases the shrink-wrap may be
torn in spots, but if it's not possible the record has been taken out and played,
the record will still qualify as "Sealed".
Additional Marks & Notes
If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially
if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record.
This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip,
cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.
Great early work from Lake – playing here in a number of different settings, but always with well-matched collaborators! 3 tracks on the set – "Owshet", "Heavy Spirits", and "While Pushing Down Turn" – featuring Lake with Olu Dara on trumpet, Donald ... LP, Vinyl record album
Braxton recorded in a number of different settings, all of which are incredibly fruitful. Some tracks feature Braxton with Kenny Wheeler, Dave Holland, and Jerome Cooper; another has him with the core of the pre-WSQ, Oliver Lake, Julius Hemphill, and Hamiet Bluiett; and one has him playing those ... The rich tones of Muhal's piano provide a perfect foil for Braxton, and one that gets him playing a wide range of styles on sopranino, clarinet, bass clarinet, and alto. The whole album resonates with a soulfulness that's not always apparent in Braxton's other work from the time – and the ... LP, Vinyl record album
One of Braxton's first recordings of his work for larger ensembles, and a masterpiece that gives a good example of the kind of early ideas that have informed some of his recent work in the same style. The orchestras vary from track to track, but they all include excellent players like Roscoe ... LP, Vinyl record album
One of their early classics, and still one of the greatest groups with roots in the Chicago AACM scene. Henry Threadgill, Fred Hopkins, and Steve McCall play modern experimental versions of compositions by Jelly Roll Morton and Scot Joplin – plus Threadgill's own "Paille Street". LP, Vinyl record album
Classic AACM material from Chicago, strangely issued on Arista, but produced by Michael Cuscuna with all the care of a small-label session. The classic lineup of Henry Threadgill, Fred Hopkins, and Steve McCall is firmly in place – and they band interacts with a sense of humor and ... LP, Vinyl record album
Nice 2LP set that brings together 3 different sets of live material recorded by Braxton during the mid 70s! Nice 2LP set that brought the US some of the great recordings cut by the Art Ensemble while they were in Paris (some of which have also come out under the Black Lion imprint). All of the material was recorded in the Polydor Studios in Paris in 1969, and the tracks include "The Spiritual" ... LP, Vinyl record album
One of the most amazing albums ever cut by reedman Herb Geller – a really unique overseas session from the 70s, and quite different than his initial recordings of the 50s! Herb's working here in a cool mix of electric and acoustic modes, with a vibe that's very much in the best funky MPS ... LP, Vinyl record album
An excellent album – possibly the best by German saxophonist Klaus Doldinger! The album's got a wonderful Latiny groove – played by a group that includes Attila Zoller on guitar and Ingfried Hoffman on organ and piano. Hoffman's sound is wonderful – very groovy, and a perfect ... LP, Vinyl record album
