Best Of Martin Denny

LP (Item 41703) Liberty, Late 50s/Early 60s — Condition: Very Good+

Not really "the best", but a pretty nice collection of Denny's early work for Liberty – with a groovy photo on the back that shows him working with the group in action, beating on a big conga, while the rest of the band plays exotic percussion! Titles include "The Enchanted Sea", "Ruby", "Bali Hai", "China Nights", "Moonlight & Shadows", "Ebb Tide", and "Harbor Lights".  © 1996-2021, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Very Good + (plus)

  • Vinyl should be very clean, but can have less luster than near mint.
  • Should still shine under a light, but one or two marks may show up when tilted.
  • Can have a few small marks that may show up easily, but which do not affect play at all. Most marks of this quality will disappear when the record is tilted, and will not be felt with the back of a fingernail.
  • This is the kind of record that will play "near mint", but which will have some signs of use (although not major ones).
  • May have slight surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Waltz In Jazz Time
Liberty, Early 60s. Near Mint-
A very swinging album from trombonist Si Zentner – done in a big band style, but with plenty of groovy touches that show the 60s period of the recordings! Sandy Nelson

Boogaloo Beat
Liberty, Late 60s. Very Good+
Groovy stuff from Sandy Nelson – one of his best albums ever! Despite the title, this isn't exactly the Latin soul adventure you might think – but it is a nice batch of drum-heavy instrumentals, with a good soul boogaloo beat to them. The best tracks are the ones with "boogaloo&qu ... LP, Vinyl record album

Henry Mancini

Uniquely Mancini
RCA, 1963. Near Mint-
Uniquely Mancini work from the great Henry – a sweet set of early 60s work for RCA, done with a harder jazz style than some of his other work of the time! Mancini's group is filled with west coast jazzmen – working under tight leadership to craft some tracks with a bold, sort of ... LP, Vinyl record album

Strings Aflame
RCA, 1959. Very Good+
A soaring set of fire from the legendary Juan Garcia Esquivel – a record with the promised strings in the title, but used in all the weird and wonderful ways that make Esquivel so great!
