Detroit had plenty of great harmony groups in the 60s – but by the early 70s, The Detroit Emeralds were right on top – a feat that was easy to do with work this great! The trio have a fantastic approach here – a bit of the psychedelic soul sound of the Norman Whitfield generation, but also some warmer, sweeter harmonies too – a bit of an east coast vibe that really stands out – and which is done by the group at a level that's way better than most of their contemporaries! Arrangements are by group member Abe Tilmon, and very hip – and titles include the group's great take on "Baby Let Me Take You In My Arms", which has a great sample used by De La Soul – plus "You Want It You Got It", "Feel The Need In Me", "There's love For Me Somewhere", "Till You Decide To Come Home", and "I've Got To Move". © 1996-2024, Dusty Groove, Inc.
