Ladies' Night (short, long)

12-inch (Item 414039) De-Lite, 1979 — Condition: Used
(pic cover)
Out Of Stock

12-inch

A funky later classic from Kool & The Gang – not as hard and heavy as their early work, but still plenty darn great! And while "Ladies Night" is a well-known hit, there's always great bits on the track that we always fall in love with again – like the tightly compressed horns, and the slightly spacey keys! Produced by Deodato too! (Cover has light wear.)  © 1996-2016, Dusty Groove, Inc.

We realize that there are many different interpretations of the standard grades used for pre-owned vinyl record albums & CD, so we thought we'd offer you the ones that we are working with, so you have an idea what we mean when we give the grade for a non-new item on our pages.

Used Vinyl Grades

Below are stated conditions for a used vinyl records at Dusty Groove. Grading for the cover should be assumed to be near (within a "+" or "-") the grading for the vinyl. If there is significant divergence from the condition of the vinyl, or specific flaws, these will be noted in the comments section of the item. However, please be aware that since the emphasis of this site is towards the music listener, our main concern is with the vinyl of any used item we sell. Additionally, please note that all of our records are graded visually; considering the volume of used vinyl we handle, it is impossible for us to listen to each record. If we spot any significant flaws, we make every attempt to listen through them and note how they play.

The following grading conditions apply to the vinyl component of an album or single:

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Nice! This is a 12" single that features two extended disco mixes of these club-oriented tracks by Kool and the Gang! Sure, this is the stuff that brought in their disco years – but it's still pretty darn nice, with an uptempo funky feeling! 12-inch, Vinyl record

Sure, the politics seem a bit silly now – but the track's still one of Prince's last really compelling hits. It's got a totally infectious hook, a spare Timmy Thomas-ish beat, and a strangely captivating vocal that really sticks with us. An excellent number from the Fatback Band, cut at the time they were transitioning to being called just plain old Fatback, and slicking up their funk sound with a slightly more commercial approach, which on this single means a slightly disco sound that puts this nice midtempo jam right in the ... 12-inch, Vinyl record

A great funky old school groove from the prime Brunswick 12" years – just the kind of indie club cut that kept the label going near the end! "Don't Say Goodnight" has a great rollerskating rhythm on the bottom and a blast of horns on the top – all to service some female ... 12-inch, Vinyl record

An avant dancefloor work of genius by Arthur Russell – the frantically beat-heavy, sunny and psychedelic single "Let's Go Swimming" that's from 1986, but it's really a unique piece of work that exists out of place and time – here in 3 distinctive versions along with a ... 12-inch, Vinyl record
