I'm Strong (club, acapella, house mix, bonus beats)

12-inch (Item 409167) Alleviated, 1987 — Condition: Very Good-

An excellent bit of spare soulful house produced by Larry Heard!  © 1996-2019, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Yellow label pressing.)

Very Good - (minus)

  • Vinyl may be dirty, and can lack a fair amount of luster.
  • Vinyl can have a number of marks, either in clusters or smaller amounts, but deeper.
  • This is the kind of record that you'd buy to play, but not because it looked that great. Still, the flaws should be mostly cosmetic, with nothing too deep that would ruin the overall record.
  • Examples include a record that has been kept for a while in a cover without the paper sleeve, or heavily played by a previous owner and has some marks across the surface. The record should play okay, though probably with surface noise.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Frankie goes for the charts, but still with a very nice groove – and a deep bubbling under kind of sound that stays true to his Chicago roots! Still wish he would have used a real whistle, though! 12-inch, Vinyl record

Uptempo funky James from the end of the 70s – aimed at the discos, but with that funky sound of earlier days still pretty much in place! In other words, there's plenty of funky instrumentation in the cuts – a bit faster than in earlier years, but still quite nice – plus ... 12-inch, Vinyl record

"Le Spank" is probably the most successful track ever by this Rinder/Lewis side project – and for good reason, too! The cut's got a cool moogy groove that pops across the top nicely, a bit sparer than the rest of its disco contemporaries, and with a catchiness that's undeniable! ... 12-inch, Vinyl record
Casablanca, 1980. Near Mint-
Both cuts are nice – still quite P-Funky, with a midtempo groove that recalls the best of late Funkadelic, with the Parlet ladies up front in the mix vocally, but the rest of the P-Funk crew doing their job as always! 12-inch, Vinyl record
Warner, 1989. Near Mint- (pic cover)
Hard to imagine the Michael Keaton Batman being any sort of a "partyman" – but Prince's sweet little Bat-tune really does a great job of evoking that fantasy! There's just a slight hint at the old Batman theme in the background – but overall, the whole thing feels more like ... 12-inch, Vinyl record
