Judge Not

LP (Item 408168) Musicworks (Jamaica), 1984 — Condition: Very Good

Three nice lengthy tracks each from these two reggae greats, produced by Gussie Clarke. Dennis turns in "Crazy List", "Judge Not" and "Deceiving Girl", Gregory performs "Live & Love", "Street Walker" and "Inner City Lady".  © 1996-2019, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Greensleeves pressing.)

Very Good

  • Vinyl can have some dirt, but nothing major.
  • May not shine under light, but should still be pretty clean, and not too dirty.
  • May have a number of marks (5 to 10 at most), and obvious signs of play, but never a big cluster of them, or any major mark that would be very deep. Most marks should still not click under a fingernail.
  • May not look near perfect, but should play fairly well, with slight surface noise, and the occasional click in part of a song, but never throughout a whole song or more.
  • This is clearly a copy that was played by someone a number of times, but which could also be a good "play copy" for someone new.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Early Music
Calla, 1977. Very Good
We'd be willing to wager Marley is perhaps the artist whose work has been released and re-released, repackaged and reformatted more than any other. This set features work recorded under Coxsone Dodd at Studio One: "Wings Of A Dove", "It Hurts To Be Alone", "I'm Still ... LP, Vinyl record album

Abyssinians

Satta
Azul, 1976. Near Mint-
An essential roots album! A mid 70s landmark of harmony roots, the Abyssinians' Satta is hard to beat for hardcore, spiritual roots delivered over hypnotically pulsing rhythms. Linton Kwesi Johnson

Bass Culture
Mango, 1980. Near Mint-
Bass Culture, but way more than that too – as the album is a classic kernel of wisdom from the great Linton Kwesi Johnson – done up in the mix of spoken and sung passages that always made his records so unique! Dennis Bovell handles the backing and mixing – with lots of nice ... LP, Vinyl record album

An amazingly beautiful set of tracks from Art Farmer – playing here with superb accompaniment from a young Harold Mabern on piano, in a laidback quartet format that really lets Art open up! Ornette Coleman

Dancing In Your Head
Horizon/A&M, 1977. Very Good+ Gatefold
One of the few standout 70s sessions by Ornette Coleman – a wonderfully rhythmic record that shows Ornette's expanding musical vision at the time! Good people, these Latin Teens – a very cool group that was young enough to not worry about names or labels, and who jammed in the best open-ended style of the time! Mainstream, 1970. Very Good+ Gatefold
One of the hippest albums ever from the team of Harold Land and Bobby Hutcherson – and a set that's even more open than some of their other records on Blue Note or Chess! Esther Marrow

Sister Woman
Fantasy, 1972. Near Mint-
Very righteous work from Esther Marrow – a soul sister who sings with a hell of a lot of power! The set's an overlooked gem in the Fantasy catalog of the 70s, and it's one of only two secular soul albums cut by Marrow – and quite possibly the best of the bunch, too! Esther's got some ...
