Bitch (double a-side single)

12-inch (Item 407661) Polydor, 1979 — Condition: Used

12-inch, Vinyl record

Funky club from Olympic Runners – a bit smoother here than earlier records, but also plenty darn soulful! "The Bitch" might be a bit off-putting as a title, but the groove is laid out by some tightly-driven basslines, and the overall vocals are a bit more soulful than some of the group's earlier work. We realize that there are many different interpretations of the standard grades used for pre-owned vinyl record albums & CD, so we thought we'd offer you the ones that we are working with, so you have an idea what we mean when we give the grade for a non-new item on our pages.

Used Vinyl Grades

Below are stated conditions for a used vinyl records at Dusty Groove. Grading for the cover should be assumed to be near (within a "+" or "-") the grading for the vinyl. If there is significant divergence from the condition of the vinyl, or specific flaws, these will be noted in the comments section of the item. However, please be aware that since the emphasis of this site is towards the music listener, our main concern is with the vinyl of any used item we sell. Additionally, please note that all of our records are graded visually; considering the volume of used vinyl we handle, it is impossible for us to listen to each record. If we spot any significant flaws, we make every attempt to listen through them and note how they play.

The following grading conditions apply to the vinyl component of an album or single:

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

A disco classic that you'll recognize immediately – served up in the original 11 minute mix! Saturday Night Fever did a lot towards helping push "Disco Inferno" over the top – but honestly, even without that help, the tune would have taken over most of the 70s on its own ... 12-inch, Vinyl record

You know, there was a day when we would've been happy to never hear a Ready For The World song again, but that day's long gone! If you're as ready to revisit the 80s as we are, then give this baby a spin for a trip down memory lane! 12-inch, Vinyl record

Hit work from the legendary Peter Brown – a key player in far more club sides than we can remember, but a real chart-topper with this one! You may know the a-side, which is offered here in a nice long take with a drum break in the middle – but don't miss "Burning Love", which ... 12-inch, Vinyl record

A sweet 80s groove number from Patrice Rushen off what we like to think of as one of her last truly great albums – Now – a solid commercial soul LP with lots of nice jazzy touches! "Feels So Real" pops along at an easy midtempo pace, with a sophisticated jazzed up arrangement ... 12-inch, Vinyl record

An early Madonna single – featuring some sweet Niles Rodgers production and some clubby Jellybean touches on "Like A Virgin"! 12-inch, Vinyl record
Brunswick, 1979. Very Good-
What can we say? This is a classic! The track has a monster roller skating groove that's been sampled more than a few times over the years – but which still sounds incredible on its own! Both parts are great – and even though the single's pretty darn long, you still never want it to ... 12-inch, Vinyl record

At the time this was issued, these tracks had not yet been released, though they've subsequently shown up on a number of the expanded CD reissues that have been put out since this release. Sadly, the totally burning funk of "The World Is Rated X" gets buried a bit in the bad 80s ... 12-inch, Vinyl record

What can we say? Despite the stupid appearance of the band, "White Horse" was a classic breakdance/electro track that crossed over so big it had kids in Kansas running out to by parachute pants and squares of linoleum to play along with the kids in the Bronx.
