A Bientot – A Touch Of Taylor

LP (Item 404814) Prestige, 1955 — Condition: Sealed
A touch of Billy Taylor, but that's more than enough – as his trio here can pack plenty into just a very short space! The set's an early classic that features Billy with his legendary trio with bassist Earl May and drummer Percy Brice – a group who really transformed the sound of the piano in jazz, and set a whole new rhythmic scope for decades to come! The tracks are mostly short and simple, and done in Taylor's warmly rhythmical approach to the keys – a groove that was clearly informed by the hardbop of the time, but which laid back in a much more soulful formation. The set features dozen tracks in all, including "Blue Cloud", "It's A Grand Night For Swinging", "Purple Mood", "A Bientot", "Early Bird", "Day Dreaming", "Radioactivity", "Long Tom", and "Daddy O".  © 1996-2024, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Still sealed! Feels as if it might be a green label pressing, but could be earlier.)

Sealed

This is what it says, that the record is still held fast in shrink-wrap. We tend to be pretty suspicious about these things, so if the shrink-wrap doesn't look original, or if the record seems to have undergone some damage over time, we'll probably take it out of the wrapper to ensure that it's in good shape — which is why we don't have more of these. In some cases the shrink-wrap may be torn in spots, but if it's not possible the record has been taken out and played, the record will still qualify as "Sealed".

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.
