Love's Calling/Getting Down

12-inch (Item 403056) Wheel, 1981 — Condition: Very Good+
Out Of Stock

12-inch, Vinyl record

✈

Smooth modern soul from LA – produced by Lamont Dozier! "Love's Calling" is a great mellow groove that moves along at a really nice pace – stepping slowly, but with a nice ballad soul approach that's never soppy. We like "Getting Down" a lot – and the cut's got a soaring groove with bits of jazz funk smoothed out underneath harmony vocals – reaching towards the sky, in a really positive way!  © 1996-2021, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Label has a sticker spot.)

Very Good + (plus)

  • Vinyl should be very clean, but can have less luster than near mint.
  • Should still shine under a light, but one or two marks may show up when tilted.
  • Can have a few small marks that may show up easily, but which do not affect play at all. Most marks of this quality will disappear when the record is tilted, and will not be felt with the back of a fingernail.
  • This is the kind of record that will play "near mint", but which will have some signs of use (although not major ones).
  • May have slight surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Epic, 1982. Very Good
We know, this huge hit got well overplayed in its heyday, not to mention still getting thrown into rotation a bit more than some other deserving MJ cuts, but you can't argue with the solid Quincy Jones production that gave this track its top of the charts status! 12-inch, Vinyl record

An obscure later tune by The Whatnauts – issued years after their classics for All-Platinum in the early 70s – but proof that the group is always great, no matter what the setting! A track that really takes us back, like any of the Arthur Baker or Johnny Rocca cuts, or Shannon's "Let the Music Play". We're not sure this qualifies for classic status, but it does make us feel a little nostalgic. 12-inch, Vinyl record

Epic, 1982. Very Good
One of our all-time favorite solo tracks by Michael Jackson – that incredibly catchy tune from the Thriller album – the one with that groovy vocal "Mama Say Mama Sa Ma Ma Ku Sa" chorus! It always sounds a bit silly, but that's part of the appeal – and the tune has a ... 12-inch, Vinyl record

Classic electro from the team of John Rocca and Arthur Baker. "Pop Goes My Love" was one of the catchier groovers from the time – and on the flip, Whiz Kid does some nice scratching on the dub mix! 12-inch, Vinyl record
EMI, 1983. Near Mint- (pic cover)
A great little comeback moment from David Bowie – with a great cut from a soundtrack on the flip! "Let's Dance" really got Bowie back on top in the early 80s – thanks to some production help from Nile Rogers, who made the tune groove perfectly for the dancefloors.
