2 Hot!

LP (Item 397227) Polydor, 1978 — Condition: Very Good+

A mega-hit from Peaches & Herb – best known for the crossover classic "Reunited", but equally great for a host of modern soul groovers! The duo first achieved fame at the end of the 60s – through a set of key pop soul tracks that had a warm and sweet finish. Here, though, the pair are stepping out with a bit more of an Ashford & Simpson vibe – more mature and groove-oriented – and getting some great help on production and arrangement from Freddie Perren. Titles include, of course, "Reunited" – plus "Shake Your Groove Thing", "We've Got Love", "Love It Up Tonight", "Easy As Pie", "Four's A Traffic Jam", and "All Your Love".  © 1996-2020, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Very Good + (plus)

  • Vinyl should be very clean, but can have less luster than near mint.
  • Should still shine under a light, but one or two marks may show up when tilted.
  • Can have a few small marks that may show up easily, but which do not affect play at all. Most marks of this quality will disappear when the record is tilted, and will not be felt with the back of a fingernail.
  • This is the kind of record that will play "near mint", but which will have some signs of use (although not major ones).
  • May have slight surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Peaches & Herb

Remember
Columbia, 1983. Near Mint-
A sweet, upbeat set from Peaches & Herb – definitely picking up where their other early 80s efforts left off on the contemporary dancefloor-ready soul tip – but still focused squarely on the great Peaches & Herb duo vocal chemistry! The sound balances timelessly catchy hooks ... LP, Vinyl record album

Roy Ayers

Mystic Voyage
Polydor, 1975. Very Good
An archetypal album by Roy – and one that really shows him at the turning point of his sound! Gone are the trippier jazz funk moments of earlier albums – and in their place are some tight grooves and wonderfully spacey soul. Roy hits the dancefloor with one of his first up-tempo funk ... Polydor, 1983. Near Mint-
Pure greatness from post-Jam Paul Weller – still in a very classic sort of jazzy soul mode here in the early days of Style Council! Titles include "Money Go Round", "Long Hot Summer", "Speak Like A Child", "Headstart For Happiness", and "The Paris ... LP, Vinyl record album

Ray Goodman & Brown

Ray, Goodman, & Brown II
Polydor, 1980. Very Good
Probably the best album Ray, Goodman, and Brown cut after they dissolved The Moments, and moved to Polydor. Despite some more modern soul production than their classic recordings, their harmonies are excellent, and their voices are in totally top form. The LP includes their classic "Happy ... Clay Hunt

Part One
Polydor, 1981. Near Mint-
Hard to find album of modern soul that's graced by Freddie Perren's production and Clay's deep soul vocals. The tracks are a mix of uptempo cuts and midtempo tracks with a nice 80's groove to them. Our favorites include "(I'm Claimin') Finders Keepers", "Midnight Plane", " ... LP, Vinyl record album

Edwin Birdsong

Super Natural
Polydor, 1973. Very Good+
A fantastic record – one of Birdsong's rare early ones, with a messed-up approach to funk that he rarely matched again! The album was cut at the time Birdsong was working with Roy Ayers – but it was produced by Birdsong himself, and he also handled all the keyboards on the set. The ... LP, Vinyl record album
Hi Records, 1975. Very Good
What can we say? Most of the biggest hits, and many of the very best tracks cut in the prime of Al Green's career – which is to say some of the very best Memphis soul ever recorded! 10 essential tracks in all, and it's just one of these Greatest Hits packages of pure, inarguable perection ... Linda Lewis

Fathoms Deep
Reprise, 1973. Near Mint-
A wonderful album from Linda Lewis – certainly one of her best from the early days, and a completely captivating mixture of soul, jazz, and rock that sparkles like Minnie Riperton's best work from the time! The album's got a sweet LA sound – with Linda's great vocals up front in the ... LP, Vinyl record album

Dixie Cups

Riding High
ABC, 1965. Sealed
Classic New Orleans soul by this great girl group – much rawer than some of their more easily available recordings, and with great arrangements and music by Joe Jones! Sort of the rolling funky soul sound that Lee Dorsey and others made more famous, with the cuts "What Goes Up, Must ... LP, Vinyl record album

Black Ice

Black Ice (HDM)
HDM/Amherst, 1976. Very Good
A heavy groover from Black Ice – an old school harmony act at the core, but working here in a sweet clubby mode for the 70s! The approach is quite similar to the best group soul coming from Philly at the time – with some wicked upbeat numbers that step along beautifully – not ... LP, Vinyl record album

Marvelettes

Marvelettes
Tamla, 1967. Sealed
Classic stuff from the girls who emerged to become one of Motown's best groups of the late 60s years.
