We don't know about you, but we never get tired of Cheech & Chong's jokes about reefer and East LA. Loads of great pot jokes on this album with the nice rolling paper gatefold sleeve, including "Sister Mary Elephant", "Ralph & Herbie", "Streets Of New York Or Los Angeles Or San Francisco Or. . .", "The Bust", "Let's Make A Dope Deal" and "Unamerican Bandstand". (Includes the novelty rolling paper. Cover has some light wear.)  © 1996-2015, Dusty Groove, Inc.

We realize that there are many different interpretations of the standard grades used for pre-owned vinyl record albums & CD, so we thought we'd offer you the ones that we are working with, so you have an idea what we mean when we give the grade for a non-new item on our pages.

Used Vinyl Grades

Below are stated conditions for a used vinyl records at Dusty Groove. Grading for the cover should be assumed to be near (within a "+" or "-") the grading for the vinyl. If there is significant divergence from the condition of the vinyl, or specific flaws, these will be noted in the comments section of the item. However, please be aware that since the emphasis of this site is towards the music listener, our main concern is with the vinyl of any used item we sell. Additionally, please note that all of our records are graded visually; considering the volume of used vinyl we handle, it is impossible for us to listen to each record. If we spot any significant flaws, we make every attempt to listen through them and note how they play.

The following grading conditions apply to the vinyl component of an album or single:

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Unique Thelonious Monk
Riverside, 1956. Very Good
The session's billed as "very personal treatments of great standards" – and it's a great twist on familiar material, all given the Thelonius touch! There's less of Monk's creative composition and angular group arrangements going on here – and instead, the album's almost a ... LP, Vinyl record album

Homecoming With Doug Clark
Gross, Late 60s. Very Good
One of Doug Clark's bawdy frat rock-soul party LPs on the Gross label – with his trademark "blue" material for adult listeners, backed up by raunchy R&B riffing! The general style's a bit dated, but it's also the kind of album that paved the way for Rudy Ray Moore in the 70s. ... LP, Vinyl record album

Folkways, 1959. Near Mint-
A very unusual record – one that has the Folkways ethnographic team on the streets of New York, recording the songs and calls of "six boys in trouble" as they riff and sing on some rough and raw numbers! The record's an odd turn of the ethnographic ear to the American scene – ... LP, Vinyl record album
