Throw Down

LP (Item 39661) Lifesong/CBS, 1978 — Condition: Near Mint-
The group's second album – with a few tracks still produced by Eugene McDaniels, and the rest handled by Cashman & West. Titles include "Wanna Dance", "The Prophet", "Stayed Away Too Long", "Throw Down", and "Telephone".  © 1996-2023, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Includes the printed inner sleeve, which is aged a bit. Cover has light wear.)

Near Mint - (minus)

  • Black vinyl that may show a slight amount of dust or dirt.
  • Should still be very shiny under a light, even with slight amount of dust on surface.
  • One or two small marks that would make an otherwise near perfect record slightly less so. These marks cannot be too deep, and should only be surface marks that won't affect play, but might detract from the looks.
  • May have some flaws and discoloration in the vinyl, but only those that would be intrinsic to the pressing. These should disappear when the record is tilted under the light, and will only show up when looking straight at the record. (Buddah and ABC pressings from the 70's are a good example of this.)
  • May have some slight marks from aging of the paper sleeve on the vinyl.
  • Possible minor surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Trammps

Trammps
Golden Fleece/CBS, 1975. Very Good+
Wonderful early work from The Trammps – recorded before the group got a bit too bogged down in their own disco fame, when they were still capable of hitting that tight, right Philly club groove! Hotter Than July
Tamla, 1980. Very Good+ Gatefold
A bit smoother than early days, but still very nice and soulful – and did we expect any less from Stevie? A classic 70s soul soundtrack – and a dream of a combination! Rudy Ray Moore

Eat Out More Often
Kent, Early 70s. Near Mint-
Classic stuff – Rudy's first album, and a fitting launch to his famous career of party records and live club performances! Rudy Ray Moore's second album, and almost hipper than the first – thanks to some key musical backings from The Fillmore St Soul Rebellion! Marvin Gaye

Midnight Love
Columbia, 1982. Very Good
Marvin Gaye's last album ever – and a sensuous batch of grooves that almost return him to the sound of Let's Get It On! Skin Tight
Mercury, 1974. Very Good- Gatefold
Great work from the Ohio Players – and proof that moving to a big label could be a good thing for a funky group!
