Temporarily Out Of Stock

LP, Vinyl record album

✈
❔
An excellent session cut during a stretch when the Candoli/Rosolino team were doing some of their best work – playing in Europe with a number of hip backup groups. This set features an Italian trio of Franco D'Andrea on piano, Giovanni Tomasso on bass, and Gege Munari on drums. Tracks include "Marla", "Attention", "Let's Burn", and "Conversation".  © 1996-2024, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(US pressing, still sealed with a cutout notch.)

Sealed

This is what it says, that the record is still held fast in shrink-wrap. We tend to be pretty suspicious about these things, so if the shrink-wrap doesn't look original, or if the record seems to have undergone some damage over time, we'll probably take it out of the wrapper to ensure that it's in good shape — which is why we don't have more of these. In some cases the shrink-wrap may be torn in spots, but if it's not possible the record has been taken out and played, the record will still qualify as "Sealed".

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Bud Powell

Swingin' With Bud
RCA, 1957. Very Good+
One of the few Bud Powell sessions cut for RCA, but a brilliantly swinging date that has the pianist working at the height of his powers! There's an edge here that comes through right from the start – an off kilter vibe in both Bud's tone, and even in the way he's vocalizing joyously in the ... LP, Vinyl record album

Duke Ellington

Far East Suite
RCA, 1967. Very Good+
One of Ellington's greatest albums of the 60s – and a record tinged with Eastern themes and darkly angular modern arrangements. Shorty Rogers

Chances Are It Swings
RCA, 1958. Very Good+
One of Shorty's best albums for RCA, and an album of hard-driving jazz by The Giants that's comparable to some of the great work they did in the soundtrack to Man With The Golden Arm. The group includes Shorty, Bil Holman, Richie Kamuca, Paul Horn, Bud Shank, and the Candoli Brothers – and ... LP, Vinyl record album

Brian Auger

Straight Ahead
RCA, 1974. Very Good
Long lean groovers from Brian Auger and the Oblivion Express group – recorded with a slightly freer feel than some of the group's earlier albums, and an approach that has them stretching out nicely! Dizzy Gillespie

Greatest Of Dizzy Gillespie
RCA, Late 40s. Near Mint-
Great RCA comp of Dizzy's earlier bop sides for the label, many of which came out first only as singles. Tracks include all the classics like "Cubana Be", "Cubana Bop", "Manteca", "Night in Tunisia", and a whole bunch more that you've heard him reprise a ... LP, Vinyl record album

Plug Me In
Atlantic, 1968. Very Good+

Miles Davis

Sketches Of Spain
Columbia, 1960. Near Mint-
A beautiful collaboration between Miles Davis and the great Gil Evans – and perhaps the most perfectly realized of all their projects!
