Belle Album

LP (Item 3907) Hi Records, 1977 — Condition: Very Good+
Al takes over the whole deal with this one – as the record features him writing, producing, arranging, and even playing lead guitar – stepping out from under the protective wing of Willie Mitchell, and doing a surprisingly great job overall! Al does get a bit of help in the studio – from Fred Jordan and Reuben Fairfax, whose names are hidden in smaller type, under the message on the back that says that the record is "something new" – but as we've come to learn from all the other Al Green records we've loved over the years, the man himself is more than enough to make the record wonderful – with vocals that are unbeatable at this point in his career! Titles include "All N All", "Belle", "Loving You", "Georgia Boy", "Feels Like Summer" and "Dream".  © 1996-2022, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Original pressing. Cover has light wear and staining, and a split top seam.)

Very Good + (plus)

  • Vinyl should be very clean, but can have less luster than near mint.
  • Should still shine under a light, but one or two marks may show up when tilted.
  • Can have a few small marks that may show up easily, but which do not affect play at all. Most marks of this quality will disappear when the record is tilted, and will not be felt with the back of a fingernail.
  • This is the kind of record that will play "near mint", but which will have some signs of use (although not major ones).
  • May have slight surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Higher Plane
Myrrh, 1981. Very Good+
Al Green's definitely on a higher plane here – singing an album of gospel music after his abandonment of secular soul – but thankfully, still very much in the spirit of his best work on Hi Records! The religion here is very soft-pedaled – and most tunes are very warm soul numbers ... LP, Vinyl record album

Truth N Time
Hi Records, 1978. Near Mint- Gatefold
Al Green's last secular album for Hi Records – but still a nice little cooker that's overflowing with Memphis soul! As with Green's previous set for Hi, the album's produced by Al himself, and not Willie Mitchell – in a style that's a bit rougher, chunkier, and almost funkier than the ... LP, Vinyl record album

Full Of Fire
Hi Records, 1976. Near Mint-
Hi Records perfection from the mighty Al Green – slightly later than some of his key early hits, but a record that shows Green still taking fire on all burners! Al Green, 1973 – what could be better? Green Is Blues
Hi Records, 1972. Very Good
Well, we don't know if we'd say that Al Green is blues – because he's still singing in his wonderfully sweet Memphis soul style – but this album definitely has a sound that gives a nod to the classic bluesy soul that inspired Al's work in the years before he put things together with his ... Although the date of this one might make you think that Al's softening it up a bit, that's definitely not the case!
