12-inch, Vinyl record

✈

A great little track – with a spacey, airy feel that's unusual for the time! The cut is co-produced by Jimmy Smith, and is almost more of a jazz funk one than a club number – with the mix of dancefloor rhythms and soaring jazz that you'd find on Jimmy's Sit On It album – but served up here in an even leaner way. The long mix builds really nicely with keyboards over rhythms and some cool percussion – airily gliding along with almost an "Express" type groove at times, as female vocals whisper in and out of the mix!  © 1996-2021, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Original pressing with Sterling stamp. Labels have a name in marker.)

Very Good + (plus)

  • Vinyl should be very clean, but can have less luster than near mint.
  • Should still shine under a light, but one or two marks may show up when tilted.
  • Can have a few small marks that may show up easily, but which do not affect play at all. Most marks of this quality will disappear when the record is tilted, and will not be felt with the back of a fingernail.
  • This is the kind of record that will play "near mint", but which will have some signs of use (although not major ones).
  • May have slight surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Bootsy and Roger went all the way to the bank with this one – a classic electro funk groover without which, most of west coast late 80s/early 90s hip hop would not exist! The cut's a monster – and still sounds wonderful whatever the context. 12-inch, Vinyl record

Funky soul from Betty Padgett and Arthur Foy – resurfacing thanks to our friends at Luv N Haight/Ubiquity!
