Late 70s work from Deodato – quite different than his bossa organ work of the 60s, and early 70s funk sides – but pretty darn great nonetheless! The album shows Deodato's continuing shift towards a more soul-based sound – and it mixes together a smoother club sound with jazzier elements of earlier work, all going for a sweet groove that has plenty of traces of modern soul! The highlight of the album is "Whistle Bump", a strident slick groover with washes of horns behind the keyboards and a nice conga breakdown in the middle. Other tracks include "Area Code 808", "Pina Colada", "Tahiti Hut", "San Juan Sunset", and "Love Island". © 1996-2024, Dusty Groove, Inc.
