Yes It's You Lady

LP (Item 386364) Tamla, 1982 — Condition: Near Mint-
A slightly more-grooving record than some of Smokey's others from the time – done in a style that rolls around in a mostly-midtempo mode. There's almost a gentle 80s groove approach at times, although some of the tunes on the set are definitely in that stone mellow love song style that was Smokey's biggest trademark of the time. Titles include "Are You Still Here", "Tell Me Tomorrow", "Yes It's You Lady", "The Only Game In Town", "International Baby", and "Merry Go Ride".  © 1996-2025, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Near Mint - (minus)

  • Black vinyl that may show a slight amount of dust or dirt.
  • Should still be very shiny under a light, even with slight amount of dust on surface.
  • One or two small marks that would make an otherwise near perfect record slightly less so. These marks cannot be too deep, and should only be surface marks that won't affect play, but might detract from the looks.
  • May have some flaws and discoloration in the vinyl, but only those that would be intrinsic to the pressing. These should disappear when the record is tilted under the light, and will only show up when looking straight at the record. (Buddah and ABC pressings from the 70's are a good example of this.)
  • May have some slight marks from aging of the paper sleeve on the vinyl.
  • Possible minor surface noise when played.

Condition Notes

If something is relevant, we try to describe it in the notes — especially if it is release or pressing details, or an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Smokey Robinson

Big Time
Tamla, 1977. Sealed
A Smokey Robinson soundtrack to a film that's scarcely remembered – but Smokey's songs are great, his singing passionate and soulful, and the songs work well in a number of soul modes! Some of the material approaches a rave up gospel soul mode, with church ready organs and chorus vocals ... LP, Vinyl record album

Smokey Robinson

Smokey's Family Robinson
Tamla, 1976. Sealed
Smokey's Family Robinson finds Smokey exploring rather than simply setting out to continue riding the waves made by Quiet Storm. There's bits of dancefloor funk, pared down keyboard soul, spacey jams and a sweet ballad or two – all with Smokey's soul strirring vocals in peak form. Titles ... LP, Vinyl record album

Stevie Wonder

Songs In The Key Of Life
Tamla, 1976. Very Good+ 2LP Gatefold
A sweet little double LP – one that had some folks saying that Stevie should have stayed away from the "2LP syndrome", but for us a real treasure with lots of hidden gems. Besides the hits "Isn't She Lovely" and "Sir Duke", which were more than enough to carry ... LP, Vinyl record album

Stevie Wonder

Innervisions
Tamla, 1973. Very Good Gatefold
One of the best Stevie Wonder albums ever! Stevie's moving into god-like territory here – handling a multitude of styles, all well, and crafting some of the most sophisticated soul of his generation. The album's got the same jazzy references you'll find on the best work by Donny Hathaway ... LP, Vinyl record album

Stevie Wonder

Hotter Than July
Tamla, 1980. Very Good+ Gatefold
A bit smoother than early days, but still very nice and soulful – and did we expect any less from Stevie? The record's got a nicely flanged-out soul groove – with a style that kind of expands on the vocal and keyboard production of the early 70s, taking the groove towards a sound that ... Marvin Gaye

In Our Lifetime
Tamla, 1981. Near Mint-
Marvin Gaye's last album for Motown – and a wonderful cap to a great run of sexy soul for the 70s – filled with great mellow grooves that rival the genius of his earlier work in the decade! There's a glowing, slow-burning feel to some of the best numbers here – a vibe that's ... LP, Vinyl record album

Marvin Gaye

I Want You
Tamla, 1976. Very Good
An incredible record – quite possibly our favorite ever by Marvin Gaye! The album is quite unique – written by Leon Ware, and recorded in collaboration with him – done as a "suite" of tracks based on themes of passion, joy, and new love – all of which were very ... LP, Vinyl record album

Marvelettes

Marvelettes
Tamla, 1967. Very Good+
Classic stuff from the girls who emerged to become one of Motown's best groups of the late 60s years. The set features the group's great version of "The Hunter Gets Captured By The Game", still a big cut on the Chi-town steppers scene – plus a number of other covers and lesser ... Smokey Robinson & The Miracles

Time Out
Tamla, 1969. Very Good+
Kind of a mixed bag of numbers from Smokey and the group – who are clearly searching around here for a new sound that will take them into the 70s, working in a number of different modes – all of them still pretty nice, thanks to the always-great vocal talents of the group. Titles ... LP, Vinyl record album

James Brown

Popcorn
King, 1969. Near Mint-
A tremendous turning point in the career of James Brown – and an album that points the way strongly to the even deeper funk of the 70s! The album's a hard-wailing batch of instrumental tracks played by the legendary James Brown Band of the late 60s – the pre-JBs ensemble that's gone ... LP, Vinyl record album

Brenda & The Tabulations

Dry Your Eyes
Dionn, 1967. Very Good
Incredible early work from Brenda & The Tabulations – one of the best male/female soul groups of their era, yet one that's often sadly overlooked! This album will more than display why the group are so great – as they have a unique quality that's soft and sweet, yet also deeply ... LP, Vinyl record album

Isaac Hayes

Isaac Hayes Movement
Enterprise, 1970. Near Mint-
Stellar soul from Isaac Hayes – just the sort of overblown masterpiece that made his early solo work on Stax Records so great! The record features only 4 long tracks – all of which go on in that slow-building style that Ike forged at the time – a mode that takes a few simple ... LP, Vinyl record album
