Blues Roots

LP (Item 38602) United Artists, 1972 — Condition: Very Good
Gatefold

album's not lying with the title – as it's a rootsy album of electric blues numbers. Searing guitar, raw drums, horns, bass and piano – played by Ike alone! . Titles include "The Things I Used To Do", "Right On", "Goin Home", "Think", "That's Alright", "Rockin Blues", and "If You Love Me Like You Say (You Wouldn't Treat Me Like You Do)".  © 1996-2019, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(In the embossed gatefold cover. Cover has a cut corner.)

Very Good

  • Vinyl can have some dirt, but nothing major.
  • May not shine under light, but should still be pretty clean, and not too dirty.
  • May have a number of marks (5 to 10 at most), and obvious signs of play, but never a big cluster of them, or any major mark that would be very deep. Most marks should still not click under a fingernail.
  • May not look near perfect, but should play fairly well, with slight surface noise, and the occasional click in part of a song, but never throughout a whole song or more.
  • This is clearly a copy that was played by someone a number of times, but which could also be a good "play copy" for someone new.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Cornelius Brothers & Sister Rose

Cornelius Brothers & Sister Rose
United Artists, 1972. Very Good+
A wonderful album from this enigmatic soul group! Cornelius Brothers & Sister Rose were one of a handful of early 70s groups – like Chairmen Of The Board or 100 Proof Aged In Soul – who had a sound that was incredibly hard to peg. There were bits of southern rawness in the vocals, ... LP, Vinyl record album
United Artists, 1975. Very Good
A huge moment for War – maybe the group's biggest album of the 70s, but a set that still has them holding onto everything that makes the great! War

War
United Artists, 1971. Very Good Gatefold

Gwen McCrae

On My Way
Atlantic, 1982. Near Mint-
A stone killer from Gwen McCrae – a set that's light years past the deep soul of Gwen's Miami roots – and which is given a tight, modern spin by the great Webster Lewis! Lewis produced, and plays plenty of keyboards here – and his fusion-inspired groove really helps unlock a ... LP, Vinyl record album

Carolyn Franklin

Baby Dynamite
RCA, 1969. Near Mint-
Sock-hard soul from Aretha Franklin's funky sister! Edwin Starr

Hell Up In Harlem
Motown, 1974. Very Good
