From Here To Eternity

LP (Item 385053) Casablanca, 1977 — Condition: Near Mint-
A classic from the electro maestro – arguably the greatest American album from Giorgio Moroder! The set's got a great mix of disco and electronics that was years ahead of its time – and is surprisingly fresh and edgey, despite Moroder's fame over the years. Electronics are really at the core of all the tunes – bubbling, dipping, crackling around the groove – with only slight additional disco touches – and an overall sound that leans much more closely towards Kraftwerk than it does other work on the Casablanca label at the time. And we're really not fooling about this one – because it's got a raw electro vibe that still holds up beautifully, and which is more and more of a delight the farther we get from the 70s. Titles include "From Here To Eternity", "Lost Angeles", "Faster Than The Speed Of Love", "First Hand Experience In Second Hand Love", "I'm Left You're Right She's Gone", and "Too Hot To Handle".  © 1996-2024, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Near Mint - (minus)

  • Black vinyl that may show a slight amount of dust or dirt.
  • Should still be very shiny under a light, even with slight amount of dust on surface.
  • One or two small marks that would make an otherwise near perfect record slightly less so. These marks cannot be too deep, and should only be surface marks that won't affect play, but might detract from the looks.
  • May have some flaws and discoloration in the vinyl, but only those that would be intrinsic to the pressing. These should disappear when the record is tilted under the light, and will only show up when looking straight at the record. (Buddah and ABC pressings from the 70's are a good example of this.)
  • May have some slight marks from aging of the paper sleeve on the vinyl.
  • Possible minor surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

I've Got The Cure
Casablanca, 1984. Near Mint-
Bubbling 80s soul from Stephanie Mills – a set that has the singer's vocals really working strongly with some catchy rhythms that nicely balance between the clubs and the charts! Stephanie Mills

Merciless
Casablanca, 1983. Near Mint-
An early 80s cooker from Stephanie Mills – not exactly "without mercy", as you might guess from the title – but instead a great slow burner that really does a great job of opening up her voice! Donna Summer

I Remember Yesterday
Casablanca, 1977. Near Mint-
Sweet grooves from Donna Summer – who was still a rising star at this point in the 70s! The title is an honest one – for an album with songs that look back at 60s and earlier 70s soul songcraft – and even earlier than that – mostly via the groovy backup vocals. So, Ms. ... LP, Vinyl record album

Romeo & Juliet
Casablanca, 1977. Near Mint-
Without a doubt, Alec R. Costandinos was one of the strangest disco arranger/producers of the 70s! A double-length disco symphony – and a surprisingly good one at that! An album of duets that Curtis cut with rising disco star Linda Clifford – who by 1980 may well have been earning more money for Curtom than Curtis! Street Corner Symphony

Harmony Grits
Bang, 1975. Near Mint-
Funky uptempo vocal group soul – in that "doo wop for the clubs" kind of style that a some east coast acts were using at the time.
