I Hear Music In The Streets/In The Middle

12-inch (Item 384900) Prelude, 1980 — Condition: Used
Out Of Stock

12-inch, Vinyl record

Genius, pure genius – and one of our favorite Prelude singles ever! "I Hear Music" is one of those tunes that takes a single track and creates a mini-symphony of groove – starting with a snapping catchy 80s groove sort of mode (one that's clearly inspired by Roy Ayers) – then stepping things up with a different approach on the chorus, then going back to the initial groove – and gliding through the whole thing with a soulful grace that's simply amazing! "In The Middle" is pretty darn nice too – a bit more uptempo and straight club, but a winner all the way through!  © 1996-2017, Dusty Groove, Inc.

We realize that there are many different interpretations of the standard grades used for pre-owned vinyl record albums & CD, so we thought we'd offer you the ones that we are working with, so you have an idea what we mean when we give the grade for a non-new item on our pages.

Used Vinyl Grades

Below are stated conditions for a used vinyl records at Dusty Groove. Grading for the cover should be assumed to be near (within a "+" or "-") the grading for the vinyl. If there is significant divergence from the condition of the vinyl, or specific flaws, these will be noted in the comments section of the item. However, please be aware that since the emphasis of this site is towards the music listener, our main concern is with the vinyl of any used item we sell. Additionally, please note that all of our records are graded visually; considering the volume of used vinyl we handle, it is impossible for us to listen to each record. If we spot any significant flaws, we make every attempt to listen through them and note how they play.

The following grading conditions apply to the vinyl component of an album or single:

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

A bit later than the full LAX album for Prelude – and two grooves that show the group changing things up a bit! "Possessed" is midtempo, and almost feels like ensemble funk at points – especially on the chorus bits – and the cut's got a nicely stripped down feel on the ... 12-inch, Vinyl record

The great electro classic – and one that will make you pop so much your shoulders will get sore! The single features the long "Din Daa Daa remix" – with lots of nice parts that drop out, and have the chorus popping out with great isolated sound. Also features the dub mix, ... 12-inch, Vinyl record
Fantasy, 1978. Very Good+
Hardly a disco tune from Side Effect – and instead a nicely jazzy bit of club, served up in the best Wayne Henderson-directed mode of the group's Fantasy years! Dakar, 1981. Very Good+
A great bit of boogie on Dakar – one of the latest singles we've ever seen on the label, and a unique effort from Charlie Singleton and the wonderfully-named Stargasm!
