Somebody Else's Guy (voc, inst dub)

12-inch (Item 38420) Vinyl Dreams, 1984 — Condition: Very Good+

One of the most soulful club tracks we can remember from the mid 80s – and a cut with a hook that just won't quit!  © 1996-2021, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Promo.)

Very Good + (plus)

  • Vinyl should be very clean, but can have less luster than near mint.
  • Should still shine under a light, but one or two marks may show up when tilted.
  • Can have a few small marks that may show up easily, but which do not affect play at all. Most marks of this quality will disappear when the record is tilted, and will not be felt with the back of a fingernail.
  • This is the kind of record that will play "near mint", but which will have some signs of use (although not major ones).
  • May have slight surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Vinyl Dreams, 1984. Near Mint-
A pretty nice tune from Jocelyn – circa the "Somebody Else's Guy" era. Not as much of an uptempo number as that one, with a midtempo smooth soul groove that's pretty nice, handled with a bit of a club type beat. 12-inch, Vinyl record
Warner, 1984. Near Mint- (pic cover)
One of the most romping tunes ever recorded by Prince – the kind of cut that was an instant dancefloor stormer back in the day, and still sounds mighty groovy all these many years later! The song is featured here in it's very extended version – and is backed by the fantastic non-LP cut ... 12-inch, Vinyl record
BC, Early 80s. Very Good+
An excellent early 80s groover – and a cover of the Police hit, no less! The track takes the original song, and turns it into a space-infused club track – mostly instrumental on both sides, with the vocal chorus just floating around in the background. 12-inch, Vinyl record

Rolling Stones

Miss You/Far Away Eyes
Rolling Stones, 1978. Very Good+ (pic cover)
A club crossover classic from The Rolling Stones – a track that surprisingly got the group onto the dancefloor in the late 70s, but which still held onto most of their best elements! Although sometimes panned as a cheap disco cash-in effort by some, the tune is actually pretty darn great ... 12-inch, Vinyl record

Magic Disc, 1977. Sealed (pic cover)
Jack Ashford handled this obscure little record of Christmas disco tracks – and the sound is similar to some of his own work on the Magic Disc label, although with the requisite Christmas touches! 12-inch, Vinyl record
