I Love Music

LP (Item 38103) Atlantic, 1978 — Condition: Very Good+

The great Vince Montana was one of the strongest forces in the Philly soul scene of the 70s – and he was not only an excellent vibist whose instrumentation can be heard on countless soul sessions, but also one heck of an arranger, with a real talent for a soulful groove – as you'll hear in this classic solo set! Montana's work is head and shoulders above most disco of the time – and includes strong elements of funk, and a real concern for jazzy phrasing that kept things real – all of which makes for a sophisticated blend that really sets this one apart from the pack – and has made the set a real Dusty Groove favorite over the years. Montana's genius can be heard clearly on many cuts on the record – from the sweet funk of "Samba De Montana", to the complicated conga and jazzy breakdown disco of "You Know How Good It Is", to the straight soulful disco of the title cut, "I Hear Music", which is a great little cover of the Gamble & Huff track!  © 1996-2021, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Very Good + (plus)

  • Vinyl should be very clean, but can have less luster than near mint.
  • Should still shine under a light, but one or two marks may show up when tilted.
  • Can have a few small marks that may show up easily, but which do not affect play at all. Most marks of this quality will disappear when the record is tilted, and will not be felt with the back of a fingernail.
  • This is the kind of record that will play "near mint", but which will have some signs of use (although not major ones).
  • May have slight surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.
