LP (Item 373107) Elektra, 1968 — Condition: Near Mint-

Amazingly spooky stuff from Nico! The album's only Nico's second solo album – after the legendary Chelsea Girls for Verve – but it's got a spark, stark, totally-drained quality that's immediately gripping. John Cale handled production, and he's working here with Nico in a junkie haze of violin, harmonium, and other jagged instrumentation – all set to perfectly balance against the flatness and lack of emotion in the vocals, in a way that still sends chills up our spine every time we hear it! The whole thing's great – and titles include "Julius Caesar", "Evening Of Light", "Lawns Of Dawn", "Ari's Song", "Facing The Wind", and "Frozen Warnings".  © 1996-2020, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Later Belgian pressing with red labels. )

Near Mint - (minus)

  • Black vinyl that may show a slight amount of dust or dirt.
  • Should still be very shiny under a light, even with slight amount of dust on surface.
  • One or two small marks that would make an otherwise near perfect record slightly less so. These marks cannot be too deep, and should only be surface marks that won't affect play, but might detract from the looks.
  • May have some flaws and discoloration in the vinyl, but only those that would be intrinsic to the pressing. These should disappear when the record is tilted under the light, and will only show up when looking straight at the record. (Buddah and ABC pressings from the 70's are a good example of this.)
  • May have some slight marks from aging of the paper sleeve on the vinyl.
  • Possible minor surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Nico

End
Island, 1974. Near Mint-
One of Nico's darkest albums – and the kind of record we always suggest to those who doubt her genius! Love
Elektra, 1966. Very Good+
Love's first album – a seminal bit of Sunset Strip rock, and every bit as powerful today as it was in the 60s! The style's a bit sharper-edged than the group's classic and more familiar Forever Changes set, but it's still pretty darn great – a completely fresh batch of guitar-heavy ... LP, Vinyl record album

RCA, 1970. Sealed
A pretty rough and rugged set of rock tracks – performed by a trio who were all prisoners at London's legendary Borstal! Island (UK), 1980. Near Mint-
UK West Indian ex-pats in vaguely sci-fi looking outfits team up with Martin Hannett for a blistering set of post punk guitar slashing that sadly seems to have become mostly a side bar in the history of the 80s UK scene – although sometime singer Don Letts did start Big Audio Dynamite later. ...
