A brilliant mid 70s album from Jimmy Heath – recorded at a time when he was making some of his greatest strides on record! The album's got a spare, simple quartet format – but Jimmy's working here in a really expansively soulful sound – one that matches that of Clifford Jordan at the time for sheer expressiveness and imagination. No surprise, the group's a bit Jordan-esque – with Sam Jones on bass and Billy Higgins on drums – alongside Barry Harris, whose piano brings a slightly more lyrical approach to the album. Jimmy's tone on both tenor and soprano sax is fantastic – and titles include "Bruh Slim", "CTA", "All Members", "For Minors Only", and "Picture Of Heath". © 1996-2024, Dusty Groove, Inc.
