Sweet and sunny 70s Latin – the standout album from Yambu, a pretty hip group! The group's mostly a jazz-based one – and works with percussion from direction Milton Hamilton to forge a sound that's cleaner and more stripped-down than a lot of other groups at the time. There's some strong trumpet and trombone solos on the set, and a few cuts feature vocals by Rafy Puente – but most of the grooves are instrumental. Titles include "Caballo", "Professor", "Dinamita", "A New Thing", "Movin On", and a cover of "Sunny" with vocals by Lesette Wilson! (Original pressing. Cover has a cutout mark and a small mark from an old sticker.)  © 1996-2015, Dusty Groove, Inc.

We realize that there are many different interpretations of the standard grades used for pre-owned vinyl record albums & CD, so we thought we'd offer you the ones that we are working with, so you have an idea what we mean when we give the grade for a non-new item on our pages.

Used Vinyl Grades

Below are stated conditions for a used vinyl records at Dusty Groove. Grading for the cover should be assumed to be near (within a "+" or "-") the grading for the vinyl. If there is significant divergence from the condition of the vinyl, or specific flaws, these will be noted in the comments section of the item. However, please be aware that since the emphasis of this site is towards the music listener, our main concern is with the vinyl of any used item we sell. Additionally, please note that all of our records are graded visually; considering the volume of used vinyl we handle, it is impossible for us to listen to each record. If we spot any significant flaws, we make every attempt to listen through them and note how they play.

The following grading conditions apply to the vinyl component of an album or single:

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Vaya, 1974. Very Good+ Gatefold
One of the many great recordings that Celia and Johnny cut together during the 70s – in a really great combination that had her soulful vocals giving a new injection of energy to the Pacheco sound of the time! The result was a great blend of new styles and respectful traditionalism – ... LP, Vinyl record album

Atlantic, 1976. Very Good
Mid-70's compilation of his earlier jazz recordings for Atlantic – but with some unreleased cuts too! Two of the cuts here never appeared on any album, and one is presented without the edits that graced the original. Nice straight jazz stuff, with Roy's vibes ringing out in a cool modal way. ... Brother Brother Brother
T Neck, 1972. Very Good+
An amazing record! This one's probably our favorite Isley Brothers album of all time – and it's a perfect blend of all the styles they were into at the time – heavy funk, sweet soul, folksy rock, and rolling uptempo grooves! The Brothers handle all styles equally well, and the album's ... LP, Vinyl record album
