Do Ya Wanna Funk (orig, inst, radio)

12-inch (Item 369225) Megatone, 1982 — Condition: Used

12-inch, Vinyl record

Early 80s post disco groove – featuring Sylvester on vocals, with a nice, electronic synth sound to the track! You might know Cowley's remix of Donna Summer's "I Feel Love" or "Megatron Man", which have the same feel as this club cut. (In a stickered Megatone sleeve.)  © 1996-2017, Dusty Groove, Inc.

We realize that there are many different interpretations of the standard grades used for pre-owned vinyl record albums & CD, so we thought we'd offer you the ones that we are working with, so you have an idea what we mean when we give the grade for a non-new item on our pages.

Used Vinyl Grades

Below are stated conditions for a used vinyl records at Dusty Groove. Grading for the cover should be assumed to be near (within a "+" or "-") the grading for the vinyl. If there is significant divergence from the condition of the vinyl, or specific flaws, these will be noted in the comments section of the item. However, please be aware that since the emphasis of this site is towards the music listener, our main concern is with the vinyl of any used item we sell. Additionally, please note that all of our records are graded visually; considering the volume of used vinyl we handle, it is impossible for us to listen to each record. If we spot any significant flaws, we make every attempt to listen through them and note how they play.

The following grading conditions apply to the vinyl component of an album or single:

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Personal, 1983. Sealed (pic cover)
The great electro classic – and one that will make you pop so much your shoulders will get sore! The single features the long "Din Daa Daa remix" – with lots of nice parts that drop out, and have the chorus popping out with great isolated sound. Also features the dub mix, ... 12-inch, Vinyl record
Total Experience, 1982. Near Mint-
A great bass-heavy groover from The Gap Band – pulled off one of their best albums ever, Gap Band IV! The cut's got some really great funky bits on the bottom – acoustic piano wrapped around some more electric rhythms, in a blend that keeps the track as soulful as it is catchy! 12-inch, Vinyl record
AVI, 1980. Very Good (pic cover)
Back in the day, Chicago never had much of a rap scene – which is why it was so easy for Chicago radio DJ Casper to score big with this little groover on the AVI label! The cut's actually not bad as sort of a funky clubby track – and Casper's rapping style reminds us a lot of Gary Byrd ... 12-inch, Vinyl record

Fantasy, 1976. Very Good+ (pic cover)
Promo-only single, featuring this later Fantasy club groover! "I Don't Know" is one of the few lasting tracks from Spiders Webb – but it's a tasty fast funk number that still holds up to a jazz dance crowd. 12-inch, Vinyl record

A bit electro, a bit crossover – but a nice little cut, with almost a funky Brit 80s soul groove! 12-inch, Vinyl record
Sire, 1983. Very Good- (pic cover)
What can we say? Despite the stupid appearance of the band, "White Horse" was a classic breakdance/electro track that crossed over so big it had kids in Kansas running out to by parachute pants and squares of linoleum to play along with the kids in the Bronx. Despite that runaway hit ... 12-inch, Vinyl record

Dakar, 1981. Very Good+
A great bit of boogie on Dakar – one of the latest singles we've ever seen on the label, and a unique effort from Charlie Singleton and the wonderfully-named Stargasm!
