Run-DMC — Raising Hell (180 gram picture disc) ... LP 24.99

The massive third album from Run DMC – made at the top of their game – an pivotal effort that brought them to peak popularity and helped break hip hop in a huge way in the pop culture landscape! Part of the album's strength is its guitar-heavy sound on some of the grooves – produced by Rick Rubin and Russell Simmons with a classic early Def Jam vibe, in the same manner that helped the Beastie Boys get their records in the hands of folks who'd never buy hip hop otherwise! That sound comes to culmination on the album's hit collaboration with Aerosmith on a remake of "Walk This Way", resulting in the commercial breakthrough, but the real triumph here is the increased complexity in both the lyricism, and the way Jam Master Jay serves up their beats – which makes for a stone classic all the way through, on tracks that include "Peter Piper", "It's Tricky", "My Adidas", "Proud To Be Black", "You Be Illin'", and more.  © 1996-2020, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(In the green cover – sealed with original hype sticker!)

Sealed

This is what it says, that the record is still held fast in shrink-wrap. We tend to be pretty suspicious about these things, so if the shrink-wrap doesn't look original, or if the record seems to have undergone some damage over time, we'll probably take it out of the wrapper to ensure that it's in good shape — which is why we don't have more of these. In some cases the shrink-wrap may be torn in spots, but if it's not possible the record has been taken out and played, the record will still qualify as "Sealed".

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Profile, 1988. Very Good
A once underappreciated later effort from the mighty Run DMC – with slightly harder hitting beats, and an overall terse style (hence the title) that was always more effective than it got credit for at the time – and it's ultimately the crew's last solid beginning-to-end LP! King Of Rock

Run-DMC's great second album, with rock hard production by Russell Simmons and classic cuts! Too Short riding high still in the early 90s – still pretty close to peak level and riding it in all it's profane, funky glory – carrying on the blaxploition vibe of Shorty The Pimp and the more straight forward, stripped down bass, beats and lyrical grit of his late 80s breakthroughs. ... The best music in years from RZA – the man who introduced styliized martial arts soundtrack funk to hardcore hip hop – and the soundtrack to his own damn stylized martial arts film, The Man With The Iron Fists!
