Combat Rock

LP (Item 365151) Epic, 1982 — Condition: Very Good+
Sure, the cover's a bit dated – but the politics have stayed surprisingly strong over the years – as has the music as well! Keep in mind that The Clash were waging war in the Mideast years before Desert Storm – in this searing mix of London punk, rocksteady roots, and slight new wave elements – delivered here with a surprising sense of self that really gave the whole thing a sense of wit – and more than enough legs to keep on going without collapsing under the passage of time! Titles include the hit "Should I Stay Or Should I Go", the classic "Rock The Casbah", and the tracks "Ghetto Defendant", "Car Jamming", "Know Your Rights", "Straight To Hell", and "Inoculated City".  © 1996-2024, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Very Good + (plus)

  • Vinyl should be very clean, but can have less luster than near mint.
  • Should still shine under a light, but one or two marks may show up when tilted.
  • Can have a few small marks that may show up easily, but which do not affect play at all. Most marks of this quality will disappear when the record is tilted, and will not be felt with the back of a fingernail.
  • This is the kind of record that will play "near mint", but which will have some signs of use (although not major ones).
  • May have slight surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Clash

Clash
Epic, 1977. Near Mint-
One of the most stunning debut albums of the 70s – and a set that burst on the scene with a sound that summed up a generation, but which had never been heard this clearly before! This self-titled Clash album was different from other landmarks of the time – work by the Sex Pistols, ... LP, Vinyl record album
Epic, 1978. Near Mint-
The second album from The Clash – ferocious, melodic and masterful bits of barbed greatness from the group – the greatest flaw of which is that it's not the first album. They're still completely great, playing in peak form even with the less shambling, slightly more polished production ... LP, Vinyl record album

Sandinista!
Epic, 1980. Near Mint- 3LP
The longest album ever from The Clash – a stunning triple LP set that really shows the group bristling with new ideas and energy throughout! Epic, 1970. Very Good+ Gatefold
The crowning achievement of Spirit – a wonderful blend of many musical strands at once – and a set so successful for the group, you probably could have found in any college dorm room in the early 70s! Argent

Ring Of Hands
Epic, 1971. Near Mint- Gatefold
The second album by Argent – Rod Argent's project immediately after the breakup of the Zombies! There's plenty of Zombie-like ideas here – particularly those floating around the Odyssey and Oracle album, but they're also done without the dreamy pop style of Colin Blunstone's vocals, ... Donovan

Mellow Yellow
Epic, 1967. Near Mint-
Easily one of Donovan's most successful albums – but also a brilliant blend of folk and jazz that forged a bold new sound in the 60s! Part of the strength of the set comes from arranger John Cameron – an artist that we love for his jazz and easy work of the late 60s, and who's working ... LP, Vinyl record album

Frost

Frost Music
Vanguard, 1969. Near Mint-
A pretty electric set of late 60s hard rock tracks – nothing fancy, but pretty nice! The group's heavy on the guitars, and sings in a style that's got some slightly soulful touches – but not too much. Titles include "First Day Of May", "Baby Once You Got It", " ... LP, Vinyl record album
