Mudfoot

LP (Item 362667) Blackhawk, 1986 — Condition: Near Mint-
One of the most successful albums from the 80s jazz supergroup The Leaders – an outfit named as such because each of its players headed up their own combos. The sextet features Kirk Lightsey on piano, Cecil McBee on bass, Don Moye on drums, Chico Freeman on saxes, Arthur Blythe on alto, and Lester Bowie on trumpet – and with a lineup like that, you can be sure there's a definite train of influences from the Chicago and St Louis spiritual and avant scenes of years past, all filtered into a tighter style that has that sort of 80s avant-crossing over approach. Titles include "Miss Nancy", "Elaborations", "Freedom Swing Song", "Song Of Her", and "Mudfoot".  © 1996-2024, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Near Mint - (minus)

  • Black vinyl that may show a slight amount of dust or dirt.
  • Should still be very shiny under a light, even with slight amount of dust on surface.
  • One or two small marks that would make an otherwise near perfect record slightly less so. These marks cannot be too deep, and should only be surface marks that won't affect play, but might detract from the looks.
  • May have some flaws and discoloration in the vinyl, but only those that would be intrinsic to the pressing. These should disappear when the record is tilted under the light, and will only show up when looking straight at the record. (Buddah and ABC pressings from the 70's are a good example of this.)
  • May have some slight marks from aging of the paper sleeve on the vinyl.
  • Possible minor surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Not a trio date, but an unusual moody set – one that mostly has Kenny Barron on piano in duos with alternating bass accompaniment by Ron Carter and Michael Moore. LP, Vinyl record album

Stan Getz

Voyage
Blackhawk, 1986. Near Mint-
A standout session from Stan Getz – one of the real gems of his later years, and a masterpiece of well-blown and confident tones! Miles Davis

Sketches Of Spain
Columbia, 1960. Near Mint-
A beautiful collaboration between Miles Davis and the great Gil Evans – and perhaps the most perfectly realized of all their projects! Rokoko-Jazz
MPS, 1965. Near Mint-
One of the greatest jazz-meets-classical albums from pianist Eugen Cicero – thanks to a good amount of Rokoko in the grooves! Heads
Tappan Zee, 1977. Near Mint- Gatefold
Heads or tails, it's a winner every time – as the record's one of the last clear moments of genius from keyboardist Bob James in the 70s! The sound here is stepping out a bit more from Bob's earlier sides on CTI, but there's still plenty of great keyboard work to make the album worth seeking ... LP, Vinyl record album

God, we love this record – and we're not ashamed to admit it! Sure, it sold a gazillion copies – and sure, for some folks it showed the true demise of the Crusaders ensemble. What Is There To Say?
Columbia, 1959. Very Good+
