By The Way You Dance (double a-side single)

12-inch (Item 361917) Salsoul/Gold Mind, 1979 — Condition: Used

12-inch, Vinyl record

One of the best Bunny Sigler dancefloor tunes ever – a captivating, floor-storming number with a really propulsive groove! The track jumps along on some sweet Instant Funk backing – with just enough funky guitar riffing and warm keyboard lines to keep things soulful – and even Bunny's high vocals manage to come out just right for the tune!  © 1996-2017, Dusty Groove, Inc.

We realize that there are many different interpretations of the standard grades used for pre-owned vinyl record albums & CD, so we thought we'd offer you the ones that we are working with, so you have an idea what we mean when we give the grade for a non-new item on our pages.

Used Vinyl Grades

Below are stated conditions for a used vinyl records at Dusty Groove. Grading for the cover should be assumed to be near (within a "+" or "-") the grading for the vinyl. If there is significant divergence from the condition of the vinyl, or specific flaws, these will be noted in the comments section of the item. However, please be aware that since the emphasis of this site is towards the music listener, our main concern is with the vinyl of any used item we sell. Additionally, please note that all of our records are graded visually; considering the volume of used vinyl we handle, it is impossible for us to listen to each record. If we spot any significant flaws, we make every attempt to listen through them and note how they play.

The following grading conditions apply to the vinyl component of an album or single:

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Tommy Boy, 1989. Very Good+
A very big early moment for Lisa Stansfield – who sounds great here on vocals, adding a level of soulfulness that was missing from some of Coldcut's records before this one. Cleveland Watkiss is on backup vocals, so that probably helps out too. This is the version with the more sought after ... 12-inch, Vinyl record
Chocolate City, 1975. Very Good
A rare promo single featuring "Rigor Mortis" – one of Cameo's best tracks ever! The cut's got a funk vamp on the intro that you'll recognize from sampling instantly – and the whole thing's a nicely compressed joint with a full-on sound that the band rarely ever duplicated! 12-inch, Vinyl record
Rhythmic (UK), 1985. Very Good- (pic cover)
A crossover electro-era groover in the best Kraftwerk mode – one of those European imports that somehow managed to crack the US dancefloors strongly in the Danceteria days. Vocals are a bit cold, but in a good way – one that works with all the electro beats and keys! 12-inch, Vinyl record
B Movie (5:18, 7:47)
Arista, 1981. Very Good+
One of Gil's last true classics – a biting attack on Ronald Regan, penned after Ron got elected in 1980. This one strips down the tune from the 15 minute version on the album – leaving off the spoken bit, and moving straight into the song. 12-inch, Vinyl record
Festival, 1977. Near Mint-
"Mary Hartman" is a nice instrumental disco number – based on the theme to the odd little TV show from the 70s. "Pinada" is funkier – with some nice guitar at the beginning, which then steps into a punchy Latin-tinged number – still a bit clubby, but with more ... 12-inch, Vinyl record

One of George Clinton's biggest hits – and probably his last gasp on the charts in a major way. The cut's a logical extension of late 70s P-Funk – with more of the bass-popping 80s grooves and electro touches that Clinton had inspired in so many other funky groups at the time. 12-inch, Vinyl record

A nice lost bit of late Philly soul – produced by Norman Harris! This solid mid tempo groover pops along nicely with a very 80s groove vibe, a tight little club soul cut you'll never tire of! 12-inch, Vinyl record
