Impressions Chartbusters

LP (Item 361911) Pickwick/ABC, 1960s — Condition: Sealed
A nice 70s collection of classic 60s ABC work by the early Impressions – not necessarily the group's biggest hits, but a nice batch of work nonetheless! The work is all seminal Chicago soul – recorded mostly with arrangements by Johnny Pate, sung with that sweet crackling harmony style the group was using at the time, and featuring tracks from the years 1962 to 1967 that include "Little Young Lover", "I Need Your Love", "Can't Satisfy", "Too Slow", "I Can't Stay Away From You", "Meeting Over Yonder", and "You've Been Cheatin".  © 1996-2023, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Sealed copy! Cover has a a cutout hole, mild corner bend.)

Sealed

This is what it says, that the record is still held fast in shrink-wrap. We tend to be pretty suspicious about these things, so if the shrink-wrap doesn't look original, or if the record seems to have undergone some damage over time, we'll probably take it out of the wrapper to ensure that it's in good shape — which is why we don't have more of these. In some cases the shrink-wrap may be torn in spots, but if it's not possible the record has been taken out and played, the record will still qualify as "Sealed".

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Ray Charles

Live In Concert
ABC, 1964. Near Mint-
A classic live set from Ray Charles – one that equally showcases all the best sides of his sound in the mid 60s! The group's got a nice dose of jazz – which it shows right at the start – almost a mix of Basie swing and R&B, of the sort that Ray was sporting heavily in the ... LP, Vinyl record album

Wade Marcus

Metamorphosis
ABC, 1976. Very Good
A really beautiful little record from Wade Marcus – one that features Wade's great talents for soulful arranging, but with plenty of jazzy touches over the top! The set's got a decidedly disco feel at times, but also uses main soloists on all tracks – creating a strong sense of the ... LP, Vinyl record album

Stevie Wonder Songbook
Pickwick, 1977. Very Good+
Like so many other albums on Pickwick, this one is an attempt to capitalize on the larger success of another artist, by getting a studio band to record an album of covers. But rather than a set of workmanlike versions of Stevie tunes, this set actually does a decent version of imitating a good ... LP, Vinyl record album

Fantastic Lloyd Price

ABC, 1969/1976. Near Mint-
A selection of tracks culled from the days when War were working with Eric Burdon – during the years 1969 and 1970, when the ex-Animal tried to show the world that he actually had some real soul cred, and hooked up with this hip funky combo from LA to lay down his groove. Eddie's masterpiece LP of late sixties soul, with the classic "Hey There Lonely Girl", the title cut, and a lot of other great original compositions. SOUL, 1968. Near Mint-
Heavy duty instrumentals from this legendary Detroit tenor giant! This album's one of Jr's best – recorded with a rawer tone than later work, almost a mixture of funky 45 and R&B grooving. Motown favorites like "Come See About Me" and "What Does It Take To Win Your ... LP, Vinyl record album
