Kashif penned this catchy little tune for Evelyn Champagne King – really helping her find her groove in the 80s with a sweet flurry of electric beats, keyboard parts, and plenty of bass! The vocals are totally great – right in pace with the rhythms, but warmer overall – all showing that magic King touch!  © 1996-2018, Dusty Groove, Inc.

We realize that there are many different interpretations of the standard grades used for pre-owned vinyl record albums & CD, so we thought we'd offer you the ones that we are working with, so you have an idea what we mean when we give the grade for a non-new item on our pages.

Used Vinyl Grades

Below are stated conditions for a used vinyl records at Dusty Groove. Grading for the cover should be assumed to be near (within a "+" or "-") the grading for the vinyl. If there is significant divergence from the condition of the vinyl, or specific flaws, these will be noted in the comments section of the item. However, please be aware that since the emphasis of this site is towards the music listener, our main concern is with the vinyl of any used item we sell. Additionally, please note that all of our records are graded visually; considering the volume of used vinyl we handle, it is impossible for us to listen to each record. If we spot any significant flaws, we make every attempt to listen through them and note how they play.

The following grading conditions apply to the vinyl component of an album or single:

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

A nice 80s groove moment from Pleasure's Give It Up LP, cut well after their more well known jazz funk years at Fantasy, but a nice, tight piece of very bass heavy commercial funk, with some nice synth touches, kind of in the mode of early 80s Cameo or Dazz Band. 12-inch, Vinyl record

A gliding Italian disco number from the well-named Black Light Orchestra – a group who use strings over rhythms in a way that's a bit like Love Unlimited Orchestra – but with a groove that's a bit more compressed, and which relies here on some strong conga at the bottom! A seminal bit of crossover from The Eurythmics – easily one of the biggest tracks of the early 80s British invasion, and a tune that almost makes us forgive all the later crimes of Annie Lennox! 12-inch, Vinyl record
West End, 1981. Very Good-
An undisputed classic! The funky grooves of this early 80s single by Taana make it our favorite by her – and it's a non-stop killer that's served up here in a 9 and 6 minute version. Used as the sample for "Buddy" by De La Soul, and for a whole bunch of other tracks too! 12-inch, Vinyl record

Loads of fat keyboard lines on this one – a cut from the mid 80s, but one that sparkles every bit as strongly as Rene & Angela work from a few years before! Salsoul, 1976. Very Good-
Back to back slammers from Salsoul Orchestra! "Nice N Naasty" has a great funky bit on the intro – setting the scene for a jaunty groove that's not nearly as kitshcy as you'd expect from the title, and which has all the sweet Salsoul touches firmly in place! "3001" is ... 12-inch, Vinyl record
