A collection of different odds and ends from a pretty broad swath of Powell's career, one of the sort of reissues Michael Cuscuna was producing in the mid 80s where he'd dig up some nice lost gems. The set starts with some radio transcriptions from 1949 featuring a great line up of young bop stars with Fats Navarro, Sonny Rollins, Tommy Potter and Roy Haynes running through 2 takes of "Bouncing With Bud", plus "Wail" and "Dance Of The Infidels". For most of the rest of the album the format's Bud's favored trio setting in 1953, 1957, 1958 and 1963, recorded with George Duvivier, Paul Chambers, Sam Jones or Pierre Michelot on bass, and Art Taylor, Philly Joe Jones or Kenny Clarke on drums, and featuring Dexter Gordon sitting in on one number, "Our Love Is Here To Stay". 11 tracks in all, also includes "Collard Greens And Black Eyed Peas", "Blue Pearl", "John's Abbey" and "Like Someone In Love". © 1996-2024, Dusty Groove, Inc.

This is what it says, that the record is still held fast in shrink-wrap. We tend to be pretty suspicious about these things, so if the shrink-wrap doesn't look original, or if the record seems to have undergone some damage over time, we'll probably take it out of the wrapper to ensure that it's in good shape — which is why we don't have more of these. In some cases the shrink-wrap may be torn in spots, but if it's not possible the record has been taken out and played, the record will still qualify as "Sealed".
