I Wanna Be With You (parts 1 & 2)/Rockin With Fire (parts 1 & 2)

12-inch (Item 35456) T Neck, 1978 — Condition: Very Good-

Funky dancefloor material from the Isleys – pretty guitar-heavy, and not really their best moment, as the soul quotient's a bit low, and they're kind of lost in the grooves. "I Wanna Be" is served up in a disco version, which is really just an extended funker.  © 1996-2019, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Very Good - (minus)

  • Vinyl may be dirty, and can lack a fair amount of luster.
  • Vinyl can have a number of marks, either in clusters or smaller amounts, but deeper.
  • This is the kind of record that you'd buy to play, but not because it looked that great. Still, the flaws should be mostly cosmetic, with nothing too deep that would ruin the overall record.
  • Examples include a record that has been kept for a while in a cover without the paper sleeve, or heavily played by a previous owner and has some marks across the surface. The record should play okay, though probably with surface noise.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Sugar Hill, 1982. Near Mint-
A killer single from Trouble Funk, on Sugar Hill, with the band's trade mark percussive riffing, and as you'd expect from go go, loads of nice fills and breakdowns all centered around a fat rolling bass pedal groove. 12-inch, Vinyl record
Brunswick, 1979. Very Good-
What can we say? This is a classic! The track has a monster roller skating groove that's been sampled more than a few times over the years – but which still sounds incredible on its own! Both parts are great – and even though the single's pretty darn long, you still never want it to ... 12-inch, Vinyl record
Manhattan, 1985. Near Mint- (pic cover)
A pretty great number from Bernard Wright – much smoother and more R&B than some of his work on GRP/Arista, but a great track with a wonderful 80s groove hook! The vocals are surprisingly nice, augmented by a female singer on the chorus – and the tune's still got some nice jazzy ... 12-inch, Vinyl record

A vocal and instrumental version of this fat, fat Go-Go take on 'Trans Europe Express", with massive bass, heavy syncopated beats, and nice spacey synthesizer sounds! 12-inch, Vinyl record
Black Jack, 1984. Near Mint-
A goofy little single that's sort of a "Stars On 45" version of James Brown tracks, with excerpts from "Sex Machine", "Soul Power", and "Super Bad", all done in a big medley. Not bad, actually – but kind of a weird concept! 12-inch, Vinyl record
