Right Back Where We Started From

LP (Item 34713) United Artists, 1976 — Condition: Very Good+
The title track to this one – "Right Back Where We Started From – was a real 70s monster, hitting big on AM radio and the dancefloors, and still kind of a guilty pleasure for us these days. The rest of the record's a bit spotty – but there's a few nice moments, like Maxine's version of Earth Wind & Fire's "Reasons", and Leon Ware's "If I Ever Lose This Heaven".  © 1996-2024, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Cover has a cut corner.)

Very Good + (plus)

  • Vinyl should be very clean, but can have less luster than near mint.
  • Should still shine under a light, but one or two marks may show up when tilted.
  • Can have a few small marks that may show up easily, but which do not affect play at all. Most marks of this quality will disappear when the record is tilted, and will not be felt with the back of a fingernail.
  • This is the kind of record that will play "near mint", but which will have some signs of use (although not major ones).
  • May have slight surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Cornelius Brothers & Sister Rose

Cornelius Brothers & Sister Rose
United Artists, 1972. Near Mint-
A wonderful album from this enigmatic soul group! Cornelius Brothers & Sister Rose were one of a handful of early 70s groups – like Chairmen Of The Board or 100 Proof Aged In Soul – who had a sound that was incredibly hard to peg. There were bits of southern rawness in the vocals, ... LP, Vinyl record album
United Artists, 1976. Very Good+
Mainstream funk tracks with a bit of a disco twist – featuring lots of keyboards upfront, and popping basslines in the bacground. Brass Construction appear to be giving Radice a hand on the album – and the record sounds a lot like some of their work from the time, although with less ... LP, Vinyl record album

Willie Tee

Anticipation
United Artists, 1976. Near Mint-
Mid 70's album of funky soul tracks cut by ex-Gator Willie Tee, with a number of other members of the Gators, for United Artists. Don't go thinking that it's raw New Orleans soul, though, because the sound is a lot more polished, with more of a 70's modern groove to it. Willie's still got some ... LP, Vinyl record album

Marv Johnson

More Marv Johnson
United Artists, 1960. Very Good
Early Detroit soul – the second LP by the great Marv Johnson, one of the first talents to be supervised by a young Berry Gordy! In fact, it could be said that everything Berry put into his work with Marv led to the formation of Motown – as Marv's mixture of smooth vocals and swinging ... LP, Vinyl record album

Rufus featuring Chaka Khan

Rags To Rufus
ABC, 1974. Near Mint-
One of those records that everyone seemed to own, back in the day – and for good reason, too – as Rufus and Chaka have a way of opening ears of folks who dig so many different styles – from soul to rock to funk and jazz – but all with a groove that's totally their own! KC & The Sunshine Band

KC & The Sunshine Band Part 3
TK, 1976. Near Mint- Gatefold
Mega-hit material from KC & The Sunshine band – an album issued firmly into the disco years, but which still had the group hitting hard in their trademark Miami sound! The tracks here are a bit longer and more hook-heavy than before – and represent the kind of material that linked ... LP, Vinyl record album

Bunky, 1967. Near Mint-
Classic Chicago soul recorded under the aegis of the great Bill Bunky Sheppard! The group was one of the best that worked with Sheppard – and they really take advantage of his odd way of producing harmonies, in the style that he'd worked out earlier in the 60s with The Sheppards. ...
