Hard to figure out where this material is from – and the notes don't help much! Side one contains "Jitterbug Waltz" and "Music Matador" – both pretty clearly from the sessions Dolphy cut with Alan Douglas. Side two, though, features three tunes – "Juggin Around", "Awful Mean", and "Litty Ditty" – that are very different, and which supposedly include Cannonball, Benny Green, Tommy Flanagan, and Gene Ammons. They're very different, and some pretty nice soul jazz material, but we're not really sure if Dolphy's on them! © 1996-2024, Dusty Groove, Inc.
