No Goodbyes (Disco Mix) (double a-side single)

12-inch (Item 33164) Curtom, 1978 — Condition: Very Good+
$8.99 ...

12-inch, Vinyl record

(€7.89 || £6.81 || ¥895) (approx.)

One of Curtis Mayfield's attempts to crack the dancefloor during the late 70s. The song's got an uptempo groove, and moves along at a fast pace, with lots of strings and percussion in a warm clubby groove. Curtis' voice is still in nice shape, though – and there's some moments to the track that still let his soulfulness shine through. More of an oddity than an essential record, though. Very Good + (plus)

  • Vinyl should be very clean, but can have less luster than near mint.
  • Should still shine under a light, but one or two marks may show up when tilted.
  • Can have a few small marks that may show up easily, but which do not affect play at all. Most marks of this quality will disappear when the record is tilted, and will not be felt with the back of a fingernail.
  • This is the kind of record that will play "near mint", but which will have some signs of use (although not major ones).
  • May have slight surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

A&M/Horizon, 1979. Very Good
"Computer Game" is one of the best early singles from this famous Japanese combo. The cut's got plenty of electronics, as expected, but it's also got a wonderfully soulful groove – with some Barry White-esque strings that provide a nice degree of warmth, and help the cut hit a ... 12-inch, Vinyl record

Prelude, 1982. Very Good
An obscure 80s groover on Prelude! The record has a choppy funk style, with vocals that might be called "rap", but which are more in that sharp spoken style that you find on some New York slick funk records from the time. Most interesting is that James Mason co-produced and wrote the ... 12-inch, Vinyl record

Fantastic! This is the kind of stuff that the 12" single was invented for – as Donna snakes and orgasms her way through 16 minutes of "Love To Love You Baby". The track has loads of changes and spare passages – and the cool electronic work by Giorgio Moroder sends us ... 12-inch, Vinyl record
