The set's one of a flurry of crucial recordings that Smith made for Blue Note in 1957 – and it features long tracks that are very much in the raw, open, solo-filled style that Jimmy was doing in the clubs on the east coast scene – graced with superb work from Lou Donaldson on alto sax, Kenny Burrell on guitar, and Art Blakey on drums!
