Happy To Be With You

LP (Item 3292) Philadelphia International, 1978 — Condition: Very Good

One of Jean's classic Philly albums, recorded after she left Doug Carn, and started to make records as a solo artist. The record's got stellar production by Gamble & Huff and Dexter Wansel, and features a nice mix of up-tempo cuts and mellow ones. With the monster "Don't Let it Go to Your Head", and the mix of "Revelation" and "Infant Eyes" that she recorded earlier with Doug Carn. Other cuts include "(No, No) You Can't Come Back Now", "Together Once Again", and "I Bet She Won't Love You Like I Do".  © 1996-2020, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Very Good

  • Vinyl can have some dirt, but nothing major.
  • May not shine under light, but should still be pretty clean, and not too dirty.
  • May have a number of marks (5 to 10 at most), and obvious signs of play, but never a big cluster of them, or any major mark that would be very deep. Most marks should still not click under a fingernail.
  • May not look near perfect, but should play fairly well, with slight surface noise, and the occasional click in part of a song, but never throughout a whole song or more.
  • This is clearly a copy that was played by someone a number of times, but which could also be a good "play copy" for someone new.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

One of the most compelling later albums on Philly International – a killer mix of jazzy numbers that have a very different style than most of the other Philly work at the time! Not as hit-heavy as some of Lou's other albums for Philly International, but a nice batch of mellow jazzy soul tracks – with arrangements by Thom Bell, Bunny Sigler, Dexter Wansel, and others. People's Choice

Turn Me Loose
Philadelphia International, 1978. Near Mint-
One of the crowning achievements of People's Choice – a very hip group on the Philly scene, but one who spent most of their early years just releasing excellent (but under-circulated) 7" singles! By the time they arrived at the Philadelphia International label, the group was razor-sharp ... LP, Vinyl record album

Jones Girls

Keep It Comin'
Philadelphia International, 1984. Very Good
Nice obscure Jones Girls album that gives the ladies a good electro 80's groove. Kenny Burke wrote and produced the title cut, "Keep It Comin", which is a nice slammin' dancefloor track, with a feel that's similar to Kenny's own work from the time. He also handled a few other tracks on ... LP, Vinyl record album

Change

Glow Of Love
Warner, 1980. Very Good+
The classic debut from Change – and the start of an amazing run of groovers in the early 80s!
