Os Cariocas De Quatrocentas Bossas

LP (Item 32712) Philips (Brazil), 1965 — Condition: Very Good-
Killer work by one of the best of all the bossa vocal groups! Os Cariocas had a sweet swinging style that reminded us a lot of the best American jazz quartets at the time, and on this album they're set in some wonderful arrangements that are a lot more complicated than some of their earlier simpler work. There's some excellent bass/piano/drums backing – in a manner that's similar to some of Luiz Eca's best work with the Tamba Trio – and the album has some fantastic songs, like "Precisco Aprender A Ser So", "Sabe Voce", "Ve", "Tema Pra Oito", and "Jogo Do Navio".  © 1996-2025, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Very Good - (minus)

  • Vinyl may be dirty, and can lack a fair amount of luster.
  • Vinyl can have a number of marks, either in clusters or smaller amounts, but deeper.
  • This is the kind of record that you'd buy to play, but not because it looked that great. Still, the flaws should be mostly cosmetic, with nothing too deep that would ruin the overall record.
  • Examples include a record that has been kept for a while in a cover without the paper sleeve, or heavily played by a previous owner and has some marks across the surface. The record should play okay, though probably with surface noise.

Condition Notes

If something is relevant, we try to describe it in the notes — especially if it is release or pressing details, or an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Very nice material recorded by Baden Powell in Paris, with backing by Paul Mauriat & His Orchestra.
