Yauarete (portrait cover)

LP (Item 32674) CBS, 1988 — Condition: Very Good+
A tightly produced effort from the late 80s – with a sound that's certainly more commercial than some of Milton's earlier albums, but which is still graced by some great vocals and occasional soulful moments. Herbie Hancock and Wayne Shorter make an appearance on the album, and tracks include "Jaguar", "Enchanted City", "Songs & Moments", and "Letter To The Republic".  © 1996-2023, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Very Good + (plus)

  • Vinyl should be very clean, but can have less luster than near mint.
  • Should still shine under a light, but one or two marks may show up when tilted.
  • Can have a few small marks that may show up easily, but which do not affect play at all. Most marks of this quality will disappear when the record is tilted, and will not be felt with the back of a fingernail.
  • This is the kind of record that will play "near mint", but which will have some signs of use (although not major ones).
  • May have slight surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

EMI/Odeon (Brazil), Early 60s. Very Good+
Great early work from Joao Gilberto – pulled from his earlier Odeon sides, and featuring many tracks that never got a proper issue in the US! As the title points out, the set's a bunch of Jobim tracks – and titles include "Desafinado", "Discussao", "So Em Teus ... LP, Vinyl record album

Very cool! This is the second pressing of this Edu Lobo "best of" – and like the first, it includes an excellent booklet of writings and photos – but unlike the first, this is a 12" LP, so it's actually got more songs. As with the others in this series, the album ... LP, Vinyl record album

Elis Regina

Elis (1973)
Philips (Brazil), 1973. Near Mint-
A beautiful album from the early 70s – and one that shows Elis Regina really transforming her jazzy bossa style into something far more complicated and baroque! E Tempo De Samba
RGE (Brazil), 1967. Very Good
A cool change for the Zimbo Trio – one that has them adding in extra strings to their core bossa jazz style, for a sound that's completely sublime all the way through! The group's grooves are still very much in place, but the added strings really help shade in the tunes with a new sort of ... LP, Vinyl record album

Most of the classic work by this great Brazilian singer is now out of print on vinyl – but you can at least grab this nice extended "best of" compilation, which features 24 hard to find tracks! Excellent late live work from Elis Regina – a beautiful double-length set that really gets at the depth of feeling and emotion she brought to her music!
