This is what it says, that the record is still held fast in shrink-wrap.
We tend to be pretty suspicious about these things, so if the shrink-wrap doesn't
look original, or if the record seems to have undergone some damage over time,
we'll probably take it out of the wrapper to ensure that it's in good shape —
which is why we don't have more of these. In some cases the shrink-wrap may be
torn in spots, but if it's not possible the record has been taken out and played,
the record will still qualify as "Sealed".
Additional Marks & Notes
If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially
if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record.
This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip,
cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.
A great 70s session from Clark Terry – playing flugelhorn here with backings from Peter Herbholzheimer, and sounding wonderfully sweet throughout! There's a spacious, patient quality to Terry's horn that reminds us a bit of his gentler moments in the 60s with Bob Brookmeyer – and even ... LP, Vinyl record album
Very nice, very laidback session that has Moody and Cohn trading solos on an easy batch of bop tracks, along with Barry Harris, Roy Brooks, and Sam Jones. The recording quality is at the usual high standard for MPS – although the set was actually produced by Don Schlitten, presumably in New ... LP, Vinyl record album
Funky electric magic from the mighty Dave Pike Set – the ultra-cool combo the American vibist worked with while recording for German label MPS! First up is Live At The Philharmonie – a legendary MPS session from vibist Dave Pike – a set that mixes his funkier styles with some ... LP, Vinyl record album
Funky electric fusion in the best 70s MPS tradition – tight, choppy, and filled with loads of quick jazzy changes! The group here is the Porkpie combo of keyboardist Jasper Van't Hof – who plays electric piano, celeste, and "prepared organ" with some really great sounds ... LP, Vinyl record album
This album's a "partner" to the duo's other MPS album, Conversation, which (like this one) was also recorded during a one-week engagement at the Domicile nightclub in Munich. The group features great rhythm work from bassist Isla Eckinger, pianist Rob Pronk, and drummer Todd Canedy. ... LP, Vinyl record album
Sweet soulful fusion from guitarist Volker Kriegel – a player who's definitely tighter here than in his more psychedelic days – but who still has a wonderful sense of sound, space, and timing! The record features some great tones from Volker – sliding along with this slight ... LP, Vinyl record album
Sweet keyboards and lots of funky grooves – one of the best of George Duke's seminal albums for MPS – and a record that captures him at a key middle point in his growth! The sound here is tighter than the trippier records of before, but also never too smooth or commercial – still ... LP, Vinyl record album
Don Sugarcane Harris/Jean Luc Ponty/Nipso Brantner/Michal Urbaniak
A live recording from the start of the 70s – one that really shows all the new directions in jazz violin on the European scene! The lineup includes four key players – Sugarcane Don Harris, Jean-Luc Ponty, Nichal Urbaniak, and Nipso Branter – working with a very cool MPS group ... LP, Vinyl record album
A hard slammer from the Clarke-Boland Big Band – recorded when the band was burning up the road in Europe, taking great players and audiences in one fell swoop, coming up with some of the strongest straight jazz of their generation! The album features stunning solos all around by an all-star ... LP, Vinyl record album
Great stuff – and very very groovy! Cal cut this record for Verve during the height of his swinging 60s Latin years – and he's working here with arranger Chico O'Farrill, who at the time, was perfectly suited for Cal's short, jaunty approach to a groove! The album's filled with nice ... LP, Vinyl record album
Great Dizzy big band LP from the late 50's, with a stellar lineup that includes a young Lee Morgan on trumpet, Billy Mitchell on tenor, and the underrecorded Billy Root on baritone. The band swings hard, and the playing's great both in the ensemble moments and in the solos. Tracks include "DD ... LP, Vinyl record album
