You're The One For Me (disco vocal, disco inst)

12-inch (Item 32123) Prelude, 1982 — Condition: Used
Out Of Stock

12-inch, Vinyl record

An excellent 80s groove classic! James D-Train Williams sings it nice and deep on this catchy club cut – but the real groove is put over by Hubert Eaves, who does some excellent work on keyboards! (In a Prelude sleeve.)  © 1996-2017, Dusty Groove, Inc.

We realize that there are many different interpretations of the standard grades used for pre-owned vinyl record albums & CD, so we thought we'd offer you the ones that we are working with, so you have an idea what we mean when we give the grade for a non-new item on our pages.

Used Vinyl Grades

Below are stated conditions for a used vinyl records at Dusty Groove. Grading for the cover should be assumed to be near (within a "+" or "-") the grading for the vinyl. If there is significant divergence from the condition of the vinyl, or specific flaws, these will be noted in the comments section of the item. However, please be aware that since the emphasis of this site is towards the music listener, our main concern is with the vinyl of any used item we sell. Additionally, please note that all of our records are graded visually; considering the volume of used vinyl we handle, it is impossible for us to listen to each record. If we spot any significant flaws, we make every attempt to listen through them and note how they play.

The following grading conditions apply to the vinyl component of an album or single:

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Prelude, 1984. Very Good+
A wonderful crossover club classic! The track's certainly got enough disco to earn its name – but it's also got these cool dark keyboards, jerking along in a Danceteria style that gives the track a very different twist! 12-inch, Vinyl record
Dakar, 1980. Very Good
An excellent, if lesser known, uptempo roller skating groove, with a chirping guitar and rolling bass pedal groove. 12-inch, Vinyl record
Sire, 1982. Near Mint- (pic cover)
An early groover from Madonna – a lot more street-sounding than some of her later work, thanks to some nice electro production from Mark Kamins! The track starts with a breathy spoken vocal – one that's almost nicer than the main lyric, which gets a bit thin at times – but which ... 12-inch, Vinyl record
Little Bit Of Jazz/Space Age
Prelude, 1981. Very Good-
A classic early 80s groover by Nick Straker – not really as jazzy as you'd expect, but with some nice piano work that hints at use of the instrument in later house singles. "Space Age" is more of an electro track – with vocoded vocals and lots of keyboards. 12-inch, Vinyl record
RCA/Hologram, 1979. Near Mint-
A dancefloor anthem if there ever was one – and produced by August Darnell, pre Kid Creole. Strong female vocals in unison – and a hook that just won't quit for the west village clubs! 12-inch, Vinyl record
SMI, 1979. Sealed
... 12-inch, Vinyl record
Sugar Hill, 1982. Near Mint-
A killer single from Trouble Funk, on Sugar Hill, with the band's trade mark percussive riffing, and as you'd expect from go go, loads of nice fills and breakdowns all centered around a fat rolling bass pedal groove. 12-inch, Vinyl record
Miss You/Far Away Eyes
Rolling Stones, 1978. Very Good (pic cover)
A club crossover classic from The Rolling Stones – a track that surprisingly got the group onto the dancefloor in the late 70s, but which still held onto most of their best elements! Although sometimes panned as a cheap disco cash-in effort by some, the tune is actually pretty darn great ... 12-inch, Vinyl record
Sky Hawk/Tailgunner
TK, 1976. Very Good+

Watch Out (voc, inst)
Il Discotto/Danica, 1980s. Very Good
... 12-inch, Vinyl record
Chi Sound, Late 70s. Very Good+
Gene's hit his modern soul stride on this one – grooving nicely on "I'll Make The Living", done in a smooth voiced approach that shows yet another chapter in his rich career as a singer! 12-inch, Vinyl record
