Unlimited Touch

LP (Item 32027) Prelude, 1981 — Condition: Very Good-

An excellent bit of 80s groove! Unlimited Touch have a cool 2-female lead vocal style – and they keep it tight and soulful on grooves that have a nice tight club sound, in a style that often reminds us of Roy Ayers produced albums, like Ladies Of The 80s, or some of the more uptempo tracks on the Ramp album. The record's one of the more soulful efforts to come out on the Prelude label at the time – and it's got lots of nice tracks like "Private Party", "In The Middle", "Happy Ever After", and "I Hear Music In The Streets".  © 1996-2019, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Cover has some wear.)

Very Good - (minus)

  • Vinyl may be dirty, and can lack a fair amount of luster.
  • Vinyl can have a number of marks, either in clusters or smaller amounts, but deeper.
  • This is the kind of record that you'd buy to play, but not because it looked that great. Still, the flaws should be mostly cosmetic, with nothing too deep that would ruin the overall record.
  • Examples include a record that has been kept for a while in a cover without the paper sleeve, or heavily played by a previous owner and has some marks across the surface. The record should play okay, though probably with surface noise.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Prelude, 1981. Very Good
Classic album of NY club grooves, including their big hit "Body Music", mixed here by Francois Kevorkian and Larry Levan. Unlike a lot of groups on Prelude, these guys didn't seem to cut a whole lot of singles or LPs, but like a lot of the Prelude stable, this album's filled with catchy ... LP, Vinyl record album

Roy Ayers

You Send Me
Polydor, 1978. Very Good+
A masterpiece – and don't pass it up! Sure, the date's a bit later than some of Roy's classic work, but the record's got a sound like no other – with a slow mellow jazzy style that shows Roy working at the height of his powers! There's some wonderful spacey production on the record ... LP, Vinyl record album

Isley Brothers

This Old Heart Of Mine
Tamla, 1966. Near Mint-
The Isley Brothers on Motown – a really key step forward for the group, who find a whole new level of soul with help from the Holland Dozier Holland team! There's a warmth here missing from previous Isleys material – that rough edge that was more part of their rocking years, softened a ... LP, Vinyl record album

Cadet, 1968. Very Good+
Fantastic bit of Chicago soul, featuring the Dells at their most mature, banked in amazing arrangements by the great Charles Stepney. Warner, 1978. Very Good+ Gatefold
An instant classic the day it was released – and a perfect blending of the group's older freaked-out style with a slick late 70s funk sound that started showing up in the work of many other groups. Soul Finger
Volt, 1965. Near Mint-
One of the best instrumental records to come out of Memphis, and a real kicker by the funky band that went down with Otis Redding in the tragic plane crash in 1968. Genius + Soul = Jazz
Impulse, 1960. Near Mint- Gatefold
A wonderful chapter in the career of Ray Charles – and a key album in helping raise his respect level a notch or two in the early 60s! Isaac Hayes

U-Turn
Columbia, 1986. Very Good+
A sweet little comeback album for Isaac Hayes in the mid 80s – really going all in with a crisp and bouncy 80s soul groove – a far stretch from the smouldering and soaring funk of the 70s, but a record that's a lot easier to appreciate that a love for 80s sounds has crept back up into ...
