Hollywood Squares (orig, rmx/edit, rmx)

12-inch (Item 31708) Warner, 1978/1994 — Condition: Near Mint-

One of Bootsy's best tracks from the old days – served up here on a promo 12" single that was issued at the time of the Warner Archives CD release for The Best Of Bootsy. The remix is better than you'd expect, too – and really keeps the original flavor of the song!  © 1996-2019, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Promo.)

Near Mint - (minus)

  • Black vinyl that may show a slight amount of dust or dirt.
  • Should still be very shiny under a light, even with slight amount of dust on surface.
  • One or two small marks that would make an otherwise near perfect record slightly less so. These marks cannot be too deep, and should only be surface marks that won't affect play, but might detract from the looks.
  • May have some flaws and discoloration in the vinyl, but only those that would be intrinsic to the pressing. These should disappear when the record is tilted under the light, and will only show up when looking straight at the record. (Buddah and ABC pressings from the 70's are a good example of this.)
  • May have some slight marks from aging of the paper sleeve on the vinyl.
  • Possible minor surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

A great release of the song that really put Prince over the top – a song that got him maybe more play on rock and pop stations than he was ever getting on soul radio – and which for years became an anthem for folks who never would have touched his music in years before! One of the most romping tunes ever recorded by Prince – the kind of cut that was an instant dancefloor stormer back in the day, and still sounds mighty groovy all these many years later! 12-inch, Vinyl record

Prince is looking mighty ready for the get down on the cover – and he's sounding the same on the single, too – serving up one of his slinkiest funky cuts of the early 80s – backed with the non-LP b-side "Irresistible Bitch" – which is maybe even better! "Let's ... 12-inch, Vinyl record

A great single that signalled the return of pure funk to the charts. Jazzie B takes a classic James Brown-esque groove, filters it through some hip hop production, and comes up with this nice track that has a deep deep bottom, and a slow funky groove. Chuck Brown & The Soul Searchers

Bustin' Loose (parts 1 & 2)
Source, 1979. Very Good+
From the transitional period when Chuck and co. were moving from the harder funk style of their Sussex days to the Go Go sound they'd help pioneer in DC, with a style that combines both, with a bottom heavy groove, wiry guitar, horn stabs and percolating percussion. This single features their ... 12-inch, Vinyl record
