Black vinyl that may show a slight amount of dust or dirt.
Should still be very shiny under a light, even with slight amount of dust on surface.
One or two small marks that would make an otherwise near perfect record slightly less so.
These marks cannot be too deep, and should only be surface marks that won't affect play,
but might detract from the looks.
May have some flaws and discoloration in the vinyl, but only those that would be
intrinsic to the pressing. These should disappear when the record is tilted under
the light, and will only show up when looking straight at the record.
(Buddah and ABC pressings from the 70's are a good example of this.)
May have some slight marks from aging of the paper sleeve on the vinyl.
Possible minor surface noise when played.
Additional Marks & Notes
If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially
if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record.
This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip,
cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.
Sweet keyboard soul from Deodato – a set that steps off nicely from the strengths of his big hits on CTI, hitting a similarly flowing groove that's really great! The instrumentation here is a bit more expanded than before, but never in a way that buries the keyboards – and Deodato's ... LP, Vinyl record album
The Crusaders are really going strong at this point – in near-hit status, almost acting as the Steely Dan of LA jazz. The sound is certainly slicker than before, but in a way that's actually pretty darn nice – as Joe Sample, Wilton Felder, Stix Hooper, and Larry Carlton come together ... LP, Vinyl record album
One of the few full LPs from Burgess Gardner – a man who cut some great funky 45s in Chicago! Done for MCA during as part of the One Way stretch on that label – with titles that include "My Pleasure", "Little Bellflower", "Gemstone", "Crazy About ... LP, Vinyl record album
One of Cannonball Adderley's excellent moody electric albums from the early 70s – with a stripped down vibe that's really nice, made even better by sweeeet production by David Axelrod! The set's got great keyboard work by George Duke and Hal Galper – both working in a spare, subtle ... LP, Vinyl record album
Amazing! This fantastic album by Jack McDuff is one of his best from the late 60's, and it almost never turns up on vinyl anymore. The album's a massive set of grooves that pits McDuff's funky organ against some very heavy soul jazz arrangements by Richard Evans. Evans provides a beautiful set ... LP, Vinyl record album
Roswell Rudd leads the Jazz Composers Orchestra, which includes (on this session) Dewey Redman, Charlie Haden, Enrico Rava, Sheila Jordan, Beaver Harris, and Sirone. Some of the material's a bit loose for our taste, but there's some nice tracks like the excellent "Circulation", which has ... LP, Vinyl record album
An obscure album by Cedar – really his toughest to find on wax – and an incredibly groovy album! The title track features Cedar playing electric piano, and is a nice stretched out groove that also has Blue Mitchell and Clifford Jordan doing strong cutting soul jazz solo work. The rest ...
