Mondo Hollywood

LP (Item 30874) Tower, 1967 — Condition: Near Mint-
Wonderful b-movie sleaze from Mike Curb and his usual host of studio rock freakout groups! The sound is pure Tower – a bit kitsch and a bit garagey – kind of a blend of the gritty sound of the late 60s underground, mixed with soundtrack modes that offer up a cool fantasy of that scene as well! There's plenty of unusual groups here – and tunes include "Mondo Hollywood" by the Mugwump Establishment, "Magic Night" by Mike Clifford, "Last Wave Of The Day" by The Riptides, "Great God Pan" by God Pan, "Magic Night March" by 18th Century Concepts, and "Moonfire" by the great Davie Allan & The Arrows! Also features the "Mondo Hollywood Freakout" by the Mugwump Establishment – a freaked-out instrumental that's worth the price of the record alone!  © 1996-2025, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Near Mint - (minus)

  • Black vinyl that may show a slight amount of dust or dirt.
  • Should still be very shiny under a light, even with slight amount of dust on surface.
  • One or two small marks that would make an otherwise near perfect record slightly less so. These marks cannot be too deep, and should only be surface marks that won't affect play, but might detract from the looks.
  • May have some flaws and discoloration in the vinyl, but only those that would be intrinsic to the pressing. These should disappear when the record is tilted under the light, and will only show up when looking straight at the record. (Buddah and ABC pressings from the 70's are a good example of this.)
  • May have some slight marks from aging of the paper sleeve on the vinyl.
  • Possible minor surface noise when played.

Condition Notes

If something is relevant, we try to describe it in the notes — especially if it is release or pressing details, or an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Wild In The Streets
Tower, 1968. Very Good Gatefold
Hilarious! This is the soundtrack to a goofy late 60s shocker film about the time when hippies and young folks would take over America. Les Baxter handled the musical score for the film, but the real treat is the schlocky rock tracks – written by Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil, with ... LP, Vinyl record album

Woman Times Seven
Capitol, Mid 60s. Near Mint-
This one's the score to an obscure comedy that starred Shirley Maclaine, Alan Arkin, Peter Sellers, and Michael Caine – and which was directed by Vittorio DeSica, working here in a far cry from The Bicycle Thief! Despite the goofy nature of the film, most of the tracks are in the range of ... LP, Vinyl record album

Swept Away
Peters, 1975. Near Mint-
One of our favorite Italian soundtracks of the 70s – a wonderful score written by Piero Piccioni and conducted by Berto Pisano – easily our idea of heaven! The tunes are languid and laidback – moving in a way that's slow, yet often with an undercurrent of funk too – this ... LP, Vinyl record album

On Her Bed Of Roses
Mira, Late 60s. Near Mint-
Amazing score to this equally amazing film about the "girl next door" who suffers from "Psychopathia Sexualis". The score is a mixture of themes – to capture the mixture of mood swings running through the patient in the film. Some tracks are raunchy and jazzy, other ... LP, Vinyl record album
Poo, Early 70s. Near Mint-
Western work from Morricone – but with a feel that's perhaps a bit less dark than some of his other soundtracks in the genre – and it's groovy, evocative film music from the master! The album's got a nice title theme in English called "Home To My Love", and sung by Gino ... LP, Vinyl record album

Fantasy, 1975. Near Mint- Gatefold
A pretty straight score from Jack Nitzsche – despite his groovier tendencies on earlier work – but also not a bad one, and a lot more striking than we remember the music being when we saw the film! Flying Burrito Brothers
A&M, 1971. Near Mint-
The Burritos first LP, post-Parsons – and a pretty strong statement for the merits of the now unquestioned leader, Rick Roberts, and multi-instrumentalist new guy Bernie Leadon, who would later turn to the dark side and join the Eagles!
