Ann Peebles' Greatest Hits

LP (Item 29736) Hi Records/MCA, 1970s — Condition: Near Mint-
A winning selection of some of Ann Peebles' best work for Hi Records – featuring stellar production by Willie Mitchell, and a stone-mellow Memphis soul approach to the music. Includes the great sample cut "I Can't Stand The Rain", plus "Walk Away", "Breaking Up Somebody's Home", "I'm Gonna Tear Your Playhouse Down", "Part Time Love", and "If This Is Heaven". Nice notes, too.  © 1996-2025, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Cover has a promo stamp.)

Near Mint - (minus)

  • Black vinyl that may show a slight amount of dust or dirt.
  • Should still be very shiny under a light, even with slight amount of dust on surface.
  • One or two small marks that would make an otherwise near perfect record slightly less so. These marks cannot be too deep, and should only be surface marks that won't affect play, but might detract from the looks.
  • May have some flaws and discoloration in the vinyl, but only those that would be intrinsic to the pressing. These should disappear when the record is tilted under the light, and will only show up when looking straight at the record. (Buddah and ABC pressings from the 70's are a good example of this.)
  • May have some slight marks from aging of the paper sleeve on the vinyl.
  • Possible minor surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Bill Summers & Summer's Heat

London Style
MCA, 1983. Very Good
Bill Summers' London Style here is one that's definitely influenced by the changes on the dancefloor coming from the UK in the early 80s – and the groove is a slightly more electrified take on the rhythms that Bill was laying down on previous albums for MCA! Overall, though, the sound's ... LP, Vinyl record album

A great follow-up to War's first Music Band album – and proof that the group was still plenty darn funky at the end of the 70s! Curtom, 1970. Near Mint- Gatefold
A mindblowing solo set from Curtis Mayfield – a record that not only foregrounds all the subtle politics he'd been forging in the Impressions during the 60s – but one that also really has Mayfield exploding as a force to be reckoned with in the studio! Capitol, 1976. Near Mint-
Great groovers from The Sylvers – a set cut when the group were firmly in their disco years – a great setting for their playful family-style vocals! Tower Of Power

Tower Of Power
Warner, 1973. Near Mint-
One of the harder funk albums by Tower Of Power – done with a hard-driving horn-heavy groove, slathered up in East Bay Grease! The group's got a bit of the stoner funk sound that shows their Bay Area roots, but they're also a lot tighter than most of their California contemporaries, and feel ... LP, Vinyl record album
