Kites Are Fun

LP (Item 28719) Project 3, 1967 — Condition: Near Mint-
Gatefold

Hard to find vinyl pressing of the first Free Design album, recorded in 1967 for Project 3 records! The album is a swirling mix of vocal harmonies and cute little tuneful songs, sung by the group in a style that's sort of a mix between the Hi-Los and The Singers Unlimited. Includes the tracks "A Man & A Woman", "Michelle", "Don't Turn Away", "My Brother Woody", and "Make The Madness Stop".  © 1996-2019, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Quadraphonic pressing, with 4 Channel Stereo sticker on front. Cover has light wear and aging.)

Near Mint - (minus)

  • Black vinyl that may show a slight amount of dust or dirt.
  • Should still be very shiny under a light, even with slight amount of dust on surface.
  • One or two small marks that would make an otherwise near perfect record slightly less so. These marks cannot be too deep, and should only be surface marks that won't affect play, but might detract from the looks.
  • May have some flaws and discoloration in the vinyl, but only those that would be intrinsic to the pressing. These should disappear when the record is tilted under the light, and will only show up when looking straight at the record. (Buddah and ABC pressings from the 70's are a good example of this.)
  • May have some slight marks from aging of the paper sleeve on the vinyl.
  • Possible minor surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Solid State, 1968. Near Mint- Gatefold
A funky big band album, recorded by Thad Jones & Mel Lewis, with the great Joe Williams on vocals! The record is one of the most sought-after by the team – probably because it includes the hard breakbeat version of "Get Out of My Life Woman" that's been sampled often over the ... A really great later album from Anita – one recorded live in Berlin, with some backing by the George Arvanitas trio – at the time when they had the kick-ass rhythm section of Jacky Samson on bass and Charles Saudrais on drums. Nancy – Naturally
Capitol, Late 60s. Very Good+
A great one from Nancy Wilson – a set that has the singer working with full arrangements from Billy May, who's got this surprisingly subtle approach at times that works really well with the soulful currents in Nancy's vocals! The approach is almost more like Oliver Nelson, especially with ... LP, Vinyl record album

Only The Lonely
Capitol, 1958. Very Good

Love Swings
Atco, 1961. Near Mint-
One of the greatest Bobby Darin albums ever! Gone are all the gimmicks of some of his teen records, and in their place is a solid, serious approach to jazz vocals that has Darin standing tall with the likes of Sinatra, Dean Martin, and Sammy Davis Jr. Honest, this is one of our favorite vocal ...
