Settlin' In

LP (Item 2825) Riverside, 1961 — Condition: Very Good

One of a few rare 60s albums from pianist Dick Morgan – a player from the Washington DC scene who didn't make it onto record that much back in the day! Joe Benjamin plays bass and Ben Riley plays drums, and the set includes a good mix of Morgan originals like "Bash!" and "Settlin' In", plus other jazz and pop standards like "Serenata" and "Work Song". Soulful, but with a bit of a lyrical, light-handed touch that keeps things moving freshly along.  © 1996-2021, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Mono blue label Bill Grauer Productions pressing with microphone logo. Vinyl has a mark that clicks on "Work Song" and "I'll Take Romance". Cover has a split top seam, a 3 inch split in the bottom seam, and DJ Copy stamps on back.)

Very Good

  • Vinyl can have some dirt, but nothing major.
  • May not shine under light, but should still be pretty clean, and not too dirty.
  • May have a number of marks (5 to 10 at most), and obvious signs of play, but never a big cluster of them, or any major mark that would be very deep. Most marks should still not click under a fingernail.
  • May not look near perfect, but should play fairly well, with slight surface noise, and the occasional click in part of a song, but never throughout a whole song or more.
  • This is clearly a copy that was played by someone a number of times, but which could also be a good "play copy" for someone new.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Bill Evans

How My Heart Sings
Riverside, 1962. Very Good-
Magical music from the very first note – the kind of record you need to hear if you've ever doubted the genius of Bill Evans! Riverside, 1959. Near Mint-

Talk To The People
Atlantic, 1972. Very Good-
One of the best of Les McCann's 70s Atlantic recordings, and one that captures him with a lot of fire and funkiness – and none of the looser modes of other recordings from the time! Les sings on about half the cuts – but the focus is still quite strongly on his funky jazz, which makes ... LP, Vinyl record album

Quincy just never stopped putting out classic soulful albums!
